Sifnos, Kimolos, and Poliegos Tour Review: Swimming and Island Delights

Okay, so you’re dreaming of Greek islands, right? Maybe you picture sparkling water, maybe hidden coves, and definitely some sun-kissed skin. That sounds like a trip to Sifnos, Kimolos, and Poliegos. Recently I hopped on a boat tour doing just that, and well, here is what I made of the whole thing!

What Makes this Tour Special? A Quick Look

boat tour Greece

What’s the draw here? Quite simply, it’s hitting three seriously gorgeous islands in just one day. That way you get a little taste of each. The focus is mainly on swimming and soaking in the views, with some interesting bits of local flavor tossed. Forget super long historical deep dives; the vibe is chilled, pretty relaxed exploration.

The tour usually begins bright and early, picking you up from your accommodations in Sifnos, too, it’s super convenient! Soon enough, you are heading to the main port to get on a traditionally designed boat – I think that is just so Greek, right? The boats I spotted often hold about 20-30 folks, striking a good balance between being sociable yet reasonably intimate, apparently.

Setting Sail: Sifnos, the Starting Point

Sifnos Island

Sifnos itself? A charmer, frankly. Before you take off on your island hopping bit, give yourself some time to look around! Sifnos is regarded as known for its like pottery and its food. I wish I could tell you the details of where I ate in Sifnos, but truth be told, it all tastes heavenly to me.

The beaches on Sifnos, that’s something else. While not directly part of this swim tour *on* Sifnos, a few beaches I can mention that look popular enough are Platys Gialos and Vathi. Also, you might be able to see the like stunning church of the Seven Martyrs perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop – I hear it’s a real photograph opportunity!

Kimolos: A Small Slice of Paradise

Kimolos Greece

Next up? Usually Kimolos. Is that right? It’s noticeably smaller than Sifnos, and you almost get the vibe that is feels more secluded. That makes it ideal for those gorgeous swimming spots! The boat usually stops at a couple of choice places along the Kimolos coastline.

That water is a selling point, right? So clear, in such a pretty turquoise color. Most tours usually allow around an hour for swimming at each stop, plenty long to get your fill. That’s probably long enough to take pictures of you “doing” a Baywatch pose or two, but also take in that view, that’s a good idea! Often, there’s like swimming straight off the boat. Many operators usually offer snorkeling gear, which, yeah you want to be able to enjoy that. You might want to bring your own just so you get a proper good fit. Still, nice they provide it.

Poliegos: The Island of Goats (and Incredible Beauty)

Poliegos Island

Poliegos? Prepare to be wowed because there are supposedly barely any people living here, mostly wild goats, even, which probably means really untouched views and nature, alright! It’s renowned for its unreal rock formations and those stunning blue waters. Basically, the island is something out of a movie!

That geography provides for amazing swim stops, too. The captain will know the best coves, and typically anchors in a spot where you can leap off into some seriously irresistible stuff. Word to the wise? That sunscreen is helpful, and bring a hat. Also, those waterproof cameras, are really helpful too. Poliegos is really something else.

Lunch on Board: A Taste of Greece

Greek lunch on boat

Speaking of sustenance, that tour price includes a lunch. What they give you does depend on who you book with, that’s the truth. Commonly you get a simple yet filling meal of something, some kind of like a Greek salad (tomatoes, cucumber, feta, olives – the works!) or maybe pasta with tomato sauce. Refreshments, like water and soft drinks, you may have to pay extra for so be ready to cough up. Local wine? So maybe, too it is Greece.

The lunch is served on deck. Chat with your fellow travelers, and gaze upon the sea, and soak in the Greek sun. Really nice! The tour creates memories for a lifetime.

What to Bring With You

Essentials for boat trip

What to take on board? Let’s look. Number one on the list? That swimming costume. Towel? Super helpful. Okay, that sunscreen. Oh, yeah, and sunglasses are useful and needed, but more on that in a bit.

  • Swimsuit: Sounds obvious but… bring that thing!
  • Towel: Unless you want to air-dry!
  • Sunscreen: The Greek sun doesn’t joke around!
  • Sunglasses: Protect those peepers.
  • Hat: Even more sun protection for your head and face.
  • Waterproof camera/phone case: Capture the memories without fear.
  • Snacks: just in case, you know?
  • Seasickness remedy: If you’re prone to motion sickness.
  • Cash: Small expenses like drinks, tips are sometimes cash only

Oh, and if you are sensitive to motion? I’m like that myself. Something to help you not feel sick might be really useful.

Tour Operators and Pricing

A number of local outfits usually offer this Sifnos-Kimolos-Poliegos tour. What you might want to do? Shop around a bit online before booking to compare what’s offered and look at those prices. Expect the cost to fall somewhere within that 70 to 120 EUR range for each person. I bet you can find something that might be okay. What is often included is the boat trip, lunch, some drinks and snorkeling stuff if you didn’t take your own.

It’s helpful to like carefully look at the fine print to see what’s *not* covered, alright! Some operators, they ask for extras for drinks, that is really fairly obvious! Don’t be taken back! Read the small lines before handing your card over!

Who is This Tour Ideal For?

Who would actually like this tour the most? This is how I think it might breakdown. Someone who likes water? Someone who’s keen to discover a bunch of islands without investing like days getting to them? Someone that enjoys just soaking up the rays! Is that you?

If you need loads of history and very planned timetables, the experience, might not be bang on. This boat trip is relaxed, simple and focused on enjoying what makes those Greek Islands amazing – namely the crystal seas!
