Ninh Binh Daily Tour Review: Hoa Lu, Mua Cave & Tam Coc

So, you’re probably thinking about visiting Ninh Binh and trying to cram in all the super sights in a single day, right? It’s almost a must-do when you’re zipping through Vietnam. A trip that packs in Hoa Lu (the ancient capital), Mua Cave (killer views!), and Tam Coc (that really relaxing boat ride) sounds pretty awesome. But, is it actually doable, and more to the point, is it actually worth it? Let’s break it all down for you, that way you know just what you are getting into!

Ninh Binh Daily Tour Review: Hoa Lu, Mua Cave & Tam Coc

Hoa Lu: A Quick Dip Into History

Hoa Lu, with its historical feels as the ancient capital, is very first up on a great deal of tours. Is that glimpse back in time totally captivating, though? Yes and no, I suppose. What you’ll very quickly find are remnants of temples that do, too, still stand. What’s kinda cool is imagining emperors from a very, very long time ago wandering the very same ground. To take it as a very immersive, really deep history lesson? You could be a little disappointed, almost. That does make sense though because the area itself is not kept in a state that makes one think about how life was at that point in time. All in all, it’s still great as an initial experience.

Mua Cave: Conquering Those Killer Views

Next up: Mua Cave. And very let me just mention, right now, those panoramic views you keep seeing? Very real! Getting up to them? Prepare for quite a bit of stairs. There is that thing that takes you very right to the lookout points at the peak. The climb itself isn’t for just anyone, in some respects. I’d have to say it can prove more difficult for folks with very questionable knees. That means it’s just a bit tiring, very definitely. If it’s doable, that eagle-eye shot from the very, very, top is almost picture-postcard stuff.

Tam Coc: Drifting Through the Rice Paddies

Tam Coc? Oh, Tam Coc is pretty fantastic; more or less, the star of the entire tour. It’s super peaceful to have that boat ride. A little local then gently paddles you right down the river through grottoes that seem like caves and with super rice paddies around you. It almost depends though. The paddlers may ask or actually suggest that they’re hoping for a tip or two. The landscape makes the occasional sales pitch pretty forgettable and still pretty darn lovely though. All in all, it just feels serene, is that about right?

Biking Around: Adding Your Own Exploration

So, the trip may also add cycling into the mix. The rural area near Tam Coc in particular may allow you to rent or simply use one that they offer so you can go exploring, alright? I mean you could even explore parts of town you otherwise may have skipped over when you’re very nearly cycling at your own pace, anyway. Be mindful that some routes are definitely better compared to others; if you think this will be your only time exploring this area, maybe stick close to the beaten path.

Swimming: Is that Seriously a Part of It?

“Swimming”? Right, very don’t be getting too excited for swimming just yet, because, that actually sounds pretty appealing after those stairs, but this trip may be rather rushed if your tour intends to incorporate this part into your trip. I mean it seems some of the trips actually do offer this as an addition, so double check so you can pack swimming garments if so, maybe.

Is a Ninh Binh Day Trip Truly Worth Your While?

Right, very is squeezing all of those places into just a single day actually doable, though? Yep, probably, arguably. Are you gonna have a truly chill and relaxed experience, I suppose? Probably, you’re going to wish you could hang around longer and take even more time. When you are shorter on time, though, then you should absolutely go ahead with taking this tour! And be that as it may it means that you actually saw more than staying in your hotel. A slightly different tactic is very maybe to just isolate one or two very preferred spots and spend a whole heap more time there, that is also a consideration for those folks who love to take things much slower.
