Lausanne Instagram Tour: Worth the Walk? A Candid Look

Have you considered seeing Lausanne through a lens – well, that is the lens of Instagram? I’m talking about the Lausanne Private Instagram Worthy Highlights Walking Tour. It sounds very “influencer-y,” maybe, or even touristy, right? But just hold that thought. I took it. I can report back on whether it actually helps one see this lovely lakeside town differently, or if, you know, it is simply an exercise in pretty backdrops and forced smiles. To be very honest, I went in a bit skeptical.

What’s Included? A Peek at the Package

Lausanne Package

So, just what are you paying for? Typically, the Lausanne Instagram tour, you know, provides a local guide— someone who, apparently, knows all the spots that, supposedly, look great on camera. That person takes you to these carefully chosen locations, plus gives a little local insight while you’re walking between places. Of course, and very importantly, the package includes the “service” of them snapping pictures of you with, as they say, your own device. In my situation, I saw this as very helpful being that, really, it freed me from the awkward selfie stick. The specific tour I went on said it runs for a flexible amount of time, usually around 2 to 3 hours. Basically, the duration kinda depends on how much you like to pose, so to speak, or how many times you ask for a retake. I may have requested, I don’t know, only two or three… times.

Picture-Perfect Locations: Seeing Lausanne in a New Light

Lausanne Locations

Alright, here’s where things get interesting. Very interestingly. The route, you see, did feature a few obvious, almost iconic, stops. Naturally, the Lausanne Cathedral was one of them. I mean, its towering Gothic structure, you know, provides this seriously impressive backdrop. It is pretty amazing from almost every angle. Also, there was the port of Ouchy. Very typically, tourists take photos by Lake Geneva, framed, I guess, by the Alps – like your very standard postcard. Anyway, the tour guide took me down some side streets that, apparently, I definitely would’ve missed on my own. So there was a charming cobblestone alleyway with vines growing up the walls, that kind of thing. Plus, there was this little hidden courtyard with a fountain where I got some really great shots. Basically, those unexpected discoveries, that kind of make it, possibly, more worth the price.

The Guide: More Than Just a Photographer?

Lausanne Guide

I had lots of questions. Is the guide good? Okay, so this can really, you know, make or break the entire experience. My guide, he definitely knew his way around Lausanne. Apparently, he wasn’t just pointing out pretty spots. Very much, he also shared a bit of local history, a little info about the buildings. Basically, the city had layers. Anyway, I learned quite a bit. To be honest, I even got some recommendations for restaurants that weren’t packed with other tourists. He even helped me with a few simple poses because, well, clearly I looked stiff. Obviously, a good guide can make all the difference between feeling like you’re just being dragged to viewpoints and actually, sorta, experiencing the place. He was great! The tour felt much better than expected!

Is It Really “Private”? Setting Expectations

Lausanne Private

I think this is significant: The word “private,” you see, can be misleading. Basically, you’re still walking around in a public place, right? This implies that other tourists, residents, anyone could be in the background of, like your ‘perfect’ photo. Even still, there might be a bit of waiting involved at the more popular spots if you wish to photograph that spot at your ideal preference. Very admittedly, I was hoping for perfectly empty streets. But this just wasn’t realistic. Basically, it wasn’t a huge problem for me, still, worth keeping in mind if you are very particular when it comes to this sort of stuff.

Worth the Money? My Honest Opinion

Lausanne Money

So, this is the question I started with. Would I recommend it? If, for you, taking, like your Instagram-worthy photos is a priority when you travel, then potentially, yes, I would say it might be a worthwhile thing. Especially if you’re traveling by yourself. Very probably, the guide’s local insights, as I said earlier, provide you with a way to learn things you maybe would have missed, and the route will give you some cool spots that you possibly didn’t know about. Is this the most authentic way to get acquainted with Lausanne? Likely not. However, that is to say, it is, possibly, a pretty enjoyable way to see the main highlights, as they say, get some nice pictures and also a bit of background information.

  • Picture Perfect: Cool for snapping pics in postcard-worthy places.
  • Beyond the Surface: Enjoyed the insights from someone local.
  • A Bit Pricey: You pay a price, that’s for certain. Still, a fine luxury if you value photographs of yourself and someone local who has the information on local attractions.
