Ksamil Speedboat Tour Review: Pigeon Cave & Snorkeling
Alright, so you are thinking of visiting Ksamil, Albania, right? That’s cool, it’s a seriously gem on the Albanian Riviera that folks are quickly falling for. One of the seriously coolest ways to actually see it all, and in a rather short amount of time is to snag one of those speedboat tours, particularly the one that highlights Pigeon Cave with some added snorkeling and a free drink – which, by the way, sounds pretty much spot on, huh?
What the Ksamil Speedboat Tour Promises
What you see splashed all over their ads are the promises are pretty inviting. You’re likely promised a cruise that gets you up close with some unreal coastal views, most specifically Pigeon Cave, where, arguably you can even poke into. Expect to be able to do some snorkeling in crystal-clear waters, so you can meet a colorful fish or two. And yeah, as said before, you should be expecting some kind of free drink. A glass of something to toast the beautiful Albanian sea with sounds about right.
Thing is, these tours are kind of all over the place price-wise. So, shopping around is pretty important. Look at different operators and check for the total time it lasts, what’s totally included (gear for snorkeling, the actual drink, maybe even snacks) and peek at what others thought of the actual experience through some reviews, because, frankly, it’s super useful stuff to know.
My Personal Experience on the Tour
As for me, taking a similar speedboat tour of Ksamil was seriously a highlight during my own trip. Setting off, the vibe was that it was an adventure right from the jump. It’s almost impossible not to enjoy just blasting across the water, soaking up the Albanian sun.
Pigeon Cave? Oh boy, this seriously lived up to the hype. I was really thrilled with the chance to see such a weird natural creation up close. Plus, that free drink that I got – a simple, cold soda if I recall right – tasted quite phenomenal under that hot sun. If I recall right the whole trip didn’t feel crazy crammed, like there was space to kick back. The guides, are kind of really friendly too; mine had info about every cool thing we zoomed by. Sure, the snorkeling could’ve maybe been a little better spots-wise, that said the water? Crystal-clear like they say, so, and so, a decent enough experience all the same.
Pigeon Cave: A Closer Look
The star is Pigeon Cave. It’s not too far away from the shoreline, this cave offers this picture-perfect thing that only Mother Nature could whip up. So the way that it’s been carved over years into the rocks that you can spot right near the surface of water is truly fascinating, and if you are very, very lucky enough to catch it at just the perfect light? Get ready for your pics to pop, my friend. I wouldn’t describe it as super vast or something, so don’t go expecting some humongous cavern. A visit here feels more that you’re uncovering this place in peace instead.
Snorkeling Conditions and What to Expect
Speaking of the snorkeling aspect – I want to talk a bit, so listen up! It’s important you get real expectations that aren’t overly excited and crazy high so, in some spots the water near Ksamil does boast pretty solid visibility, which is pretty lucky and fortunate to have to start with. The kind of marine life you will see in the shallows on the tour depends very on luck so maybe ask first. Typically you will only see common little fishes or the odd crab and little other stuff in small pockets, to be frank. However if the sun’s kind and it’s clear? Seriously, that swim is almost quite worth it anyway. When it comes to getting into the water I suggest hopping in sooner rather than later so the crowd is a bit less for ya!
Something to watch out for, the equipment is fairly essential. Checking if the mask is a seriously comfy fit to help keep that water from getting in. Should your trip have more than some very people? Just assume everyone wants to hit up water at that same instance and I suggest you just swim a bit far, away and around until you got your slice of peaceful clear time, or so!
The Free Drink: What’s the Catch?
OK, about that complimentary drink – almost definitely, do not go thinking you are about to start ordering fancy cocktails with lil’ umbrellas. Usually you will get like, so, that simple refreshment is totally no-frills and basic like bottled water, soda or that one kinda watery juice option if the operator felt extra kinda generous that very particular day! Don’t hesitate to tote a water bottle or other drink especially when that sun shines hard so yeah, think ahead, like the responsible and clever human I am talking to!
By the way, bringing on your own nibbles to munch on as you cruise on through the islands? Also highly adviseable! You know? I’d make sure that you’re set on everything you need so it goes swimmingly. He he! Get it!? Alright.
What to Bring With You
Making the trip actually fun depends largely about prep! I am telling you!
- Sunscreen is critical if, maybe, your skin burns from just *thinking* of sunlight. Reapply it tons so, yeah. Be sun smart.
- A towel – duh, so you will feel less moist after some splashes.
- Maybe toting water shoes? Solid move. Especially to roam across pebbly sand beaches if this tour you choose is hitting them spots, very you know!
- Also have a phone, duh! If it can go into the water I urge you strongly to get a string so you can swim with it and record great videos for InstaTok or FaceGoo, all of it!! If it don’t swim do be very very careful when snapping some memorable memories of Pigeon Cave or while screaming ‘whee’ because you are driving super fast. Accidents can occur easily and with high water speeds this almost garantees it is lost.
- Dollars, yup bring them on! Just so you can buy some things while the boat may stop at strategic locations along Ksamil beach like snack or drinks. And always be polite and give tips to these great hard workers when service is good; I am pretty sure they would apreciate the good gesture
Is This Speedboat Tour For You?
Is that speedboat and Pigeon Cave hop almost, almost precisely made for **you**? Ok answer time. Those searching for a fairly short tour of Ksamil and would see the beaches almost exclusively near shore will be delighted. It checks all of the boxes when on a tight, you see.
It may even suit small groups so like fams traveling and hoping so everyone is just entertained as much. Just that those with kinda specific needs on tours may think about booking stuff as is because a simple shared group excursion probably doesn’t offer too much that. Finally, yeah do consider boat tour stuff should the sea have lots of turbulence, so I heard; probably a bumpy kinda boat thing it is, almost so.
I feel that with the tips I dropped up in there – the trip I did gave me an experience of that lovely slice of the Albanian coast; do feel you’re now prepared to feel so yourself! Enjoy it plenty because it can bring great times if just everything is fine. Take those sunglasses, and yeah. Ready to jump and splash!
Basically, you will have to use common sense while on boat tour! So don’t get sloshed and don’t do the silly like falling down or doing a Titanic just to annoy your better half with that I am telling it here!! The crew has responsibility for *everybody* including the captain! Don’t spoil the atmosphere of peace because these people all deserve that after long and tiring days in the Sun!
