Now, the charm isn’t just found up high. Down in the village of Sete Cidades, you can feel this calm, almost sleepy kind of vibe. Its quaint houses and the towering church at the lake’s edge, well, they definitely add a certain something to the scenery.

The Half-Day Tour: What to Expect, Probably

Okay, so typically, a half-day tour is, apparently, going to run somewhere between four and five hours. Actually, it all just depends on what the tour company offers, of course. The one I picked covered all the important spots and still had time for some wandering around.

The pickup, obviously, was from Ponta Delgada, and right from the start, our guide, a guy with a proper Azorean accent, was sharing bits and pieces of info. He talked about the island’s history and pointed out things that, generally, a tourist wouldn’t spot themselves, really.
