Catamaran Ile Aux Cerfs: A Trip Review to Paradise

Catamaran Ile Aux Cerfs: A Trip Review to Paradise

Mauritius, it’s really more than just those picture-postcard beaches, and Ile Aux Cerfs is, you know, often presented as a shining example of this tropical perfection. Going there on a catamaran, that’s what I did, by the way, offers a distinct way to, like, soak everything in. You get both relaxation and a bit of exploration all in one sweet package. This review? It’s meant to give you, like, the lowdown on what this particular trip can offer, alright? Think of it as if a friend is handing you tips. So, let’s get going.

Setting Sail: The Catamaran Experience

catamaran sailing

A catamaran? You’re basically gliding over the water. Much, much smoother than other boats too. They, in a way, tend to have nets where you can, like, lounge about, letting the sea spray cool you down. So, yeah, it’s super chill, in some respects. Usually, there’s, that there is, a bar on board, pumping out local tunes. The vibe, that is, tends to be really festive.

Getting onto the catamaran is, you know, pretty easy at the departure point. Depending on which company you’re going with, that’ll decide, actually, where you set off from, alright? Many trips often begin around Trou D’eau Douce, yet, there are others leaving from different spots, as well. It’s, that is, always helpful to, you know, check this info ahead of time. So, you can avoid any last-minute panics, naturally.

As you pull away, that’s when you start noticing, like, how ridiculously clear the water is. It really has this almost luminous turquoise tinge, in some respects. Now, it might sound kind of cheesy, yet, seeing the Mauritian coastline slide by? It definitely gets you excited, clearly.

Cruising the Southeast Coast

Southeast Coast Mauritius

The southeast coast? It’s, in a way, a collection of beautiful scenery. It’s almost, that’s right, as if it was, oh, I don’t know, perfectly designed, so that tourists go “wow!”. From your catamaran, by the way, you see these wild cliffs mingling with, that they do, little secluded beaches, like your very own postcard in real-time. We were lucky. The guide made a point of showing us places that had a bit of history to them. So, you aren’t only looking at eye-candy but soaking up a little bit of island culture, too.

Sometimes the boat will, very, very, slowly, go close to the shore at certain special spots, alright? Our trip took us past the Grand River South East waterfall – seriously, a must-see, actually! I’m glad too because it isn’t just some trickle; there’s some proper drama in it, and honestly, who doesn’t enjoy that?. I snapped a bunch of pictures, like your basic tourist does. I can attest, those photos actually don’t do it justice, usually.

Snorkeling in the Lagoon

snorkeling lagoon

A lot of these catamaran tours, I can tell you, make a point of stopping for some snorkeling, which is really super awesome. You get handed the gear, which is just flippers and masks. Then, you’re told where it’s safest, mostly. It makes you, well, free to jump into the lagoon.

Even though I am far from experienced, that it’s true, the water near Mauritius is seriously ideal for beginners. Visibility? It’s crazy good, actually. There are tons of, that there are, fish to peep at too, a little, really colorful ones flitting around. I think there was some coral as well. Admittedly, I was a bit distracted, but I, like, really got the idea, apparently.

This part, arguably, often depends a little bit on the weather and also the time of year, too. I lucked out with calm conditions; I think if the current’s a bit strong, in fact, the crew might adjust plans to find a more sheltered area. Safety comes first, in some respects, alright?

Ile Aux Cerfs: Island Time

Ile Aux Cerfs beach

Ile Aux Cerfs itself is, you know, the star attraction. People always make it sound incredibly dreamy; however, being honest, that said, some parts are always crammed, alright? It seems like everyone who goes to Mauritius has the exact same idea on what to do.

Having said that? There are spots where it’s possible to walk away from the hordes and just soak it all in. The beaches are very inviting. The water’s fairly clear. So, you can paddle, or you can nap, or, you know, you can just generally be a beach bum for a while, obviously.

The island also tends to offer various activities that cost a little extra, and you’re spoilt for choice. There’s, very, very often, parasailing. You get speedboat rides. You could try your hand at golf, perhaps? Or even scout out the various dining choices too. So, whether you fancy a quick snack from one of the vendors or more of, that is, a full sit-down meal in a restaurant. There’s, often, plenty up for grabs, it’s true.

Food, Drink, and Mauritian Hospitality

Mauritian hospitality

Part of what sells these trips? That must be the promise of free-flowing drinks, mostly, right? Seriously, though, it almost, usually, feels like the crew can’t do enough to, like, keep the rum punch coming. So, no empty glasses. That is often their motto.

Lunch? That is normally included. Think barbecue vibes, with plenty of, that there is, local salads and grilled seafood. Some of the outfits are, basically, really thoughtful. They think ahead, like they provide vegetarian options, just a little. You need to give them a heads-up beforehand, though.

But what you definitely remember is, you know, how friendly everyone is, alright? Mauritians, that they do, are known for it. By the way, the crew tend to really go out of their way to make sure everyone is enjoying themselves. As I was saying, their service is excellent, generally.

Making the Most of Your Catamaran Trip

catamaran enjoy the trip

Alright, you want to milk this catamaran excursion for all that it’s got, right? It turns out that there are tips you can make use of! I can give you a few from personal experience, just a little.

Sunscreen? Apply plenty, that’s important, by the way, and, anyway, keep reapplying constantly, for sure. Even when it feels cool because of the sea breeze. That’s, it’s almost, misleading. Also, bringing a hat and sunglasses are things you really should do.

Think about bringing some cash. It seems that even when lunch is part of the package. Being as some of those Ile Aux Cerfs activities aren’t cheap. So, it makes things a whole lot simpler if you aren’t just depending on cards.

If it’s, you know, your plan to take good shots? The early morning or even late afternoon will tend to give you, what do you know, the prettiest light. I, kind of, got some stunning golden-hour photos by waiting, apparently.

Motion sickness tablets? This may sound a bit paranoid, I know. Being as the catamarans, more often than not, are incredibly stable. Still, that’s what I say, that’s what you need to do, to be on the safe side.

Finally? Unplug as much as humanly achievable, right? You should drink up every single moment. It will tend to go faster than what you’re suspecting, by the way. Don’t simply be stuck to checking those notifications, often!

Is This Trip For You?

Travel Review

Right, so, who might get something from a catamaran cruise to Ile Aux Cerfs? That, it turns out, depends upon your preferences. Let’s run through, like, the main categories.

Families? Seriously, very, very many, rate these trips because they are really straightforward. It does, definitely, offer entertainment for different age groups. Do check, but some of the operators tend to give reductions for children.

Couples? Honestly, really great. You might even want to think about selecting a sunset cruise to dial up that, there, romance. I really don’t think that it, in a way, gets any more atmospheric!

Solo travelers? Totally suited to these, for real. Being as these tours offer this, like, casual sociable vibe. Which should allow you to get introduced to other tourists. Still, being truthful, those wanting heaps of peace might find all of this to be slightly irritating.

Those people after something super authentic and cultural? These day trips are usually fun. However, there might be other experiences around Mauritius, probably, that may connect you far better to the heart of the island.

So? Have a think. If sailing on clear waters and exploring, what do you know, some attractive shores and all this, you see, combined with easy drinking? This is one of those things which just might suit, typically!

In the end, I had a very fun day out. The combination of those sights. I had fun chatting with the other vacationers too. Just taking it easy on the beach made, that did, some beautiful memories. For those keen on glimpsing a touch of Mauritian beauty? It’s really, that’s a promise, a decent choice!
