Typically, the boats will offer you places to sunbathe, and a shady area to just hang out when the sun feels too intense. Often, there are nets where you can chill out right over the water which can be awesome, as long as they’re not too crowded, which arguably, they could be! As a matter of fact, the size of the boat is very important, that will clearly dictate how ‘semi-private’ that whole shebang feels. Did it feel spacious and relaxed, or slightly crammed? Clearly, this is important in creating that, relaxing at sea vibe.

The Cruise Experience: Sun, Sea, and…Crowds?

Picture that postcard scene: The sun, seemingly shining, sparkling sea, you, too basking, and gentle wind is rather blowing. That is, yet, Mykonos can get swamped, mainly during peak season. Aboard the boat there is clearly, always food! If you’re not sure whether the food matches the views. Often, these cruises have a buffet of just about classic Greek dishes, such as that Greek salad and grilled meats. Also, the food quality can vary a bit, from quite nice to very ‘meh’. Was the food yummy? Did it run out super quick because some person filled their plate? Were those drinks flowing freely, or are they quite rationed? So, the food and drink can hugely affect how you feel the trip went!

Pit Stop: Exploring Delos

Setting foot on Delos is possibly, like stepping back centuries. And I mean that quite literally! Basically, the island is awash with ancient spots, and old temples. Typically, the tour gives you a few hours to roam. Now, the catch? Arguably, it could get HOT. And you have to pay six euro, literally just to walk on the island, or tour that place. Very possibly, make sure you wear comfy shoes and pack some water; otherwise, you could end up very much cranky and very sweaty. Clearly, some shade wouldn’t go amiss either. It can rather get overwhelming!

Making a Splash in Rhenia

Then that refreshing stop! Basically, Rhenia. A swim stop! What I thought, would have made the day a good one! What you could describe, as crystal water. In actual fact, they anchored very, very far away, you could have passed this spot on Mykonos somewhere! A bit, just a bit, dissapointing! Especially because there was, typically, lots of seaweed! What they thought, was the water! A bit further out! Honestly… did that clear and aquamarine color water make the day?

The Crew: Making or Breaking the Experience

The crew can totally turn just about any trip from, ‘okay’ to, ‘wow’. Is that to say, were they helpful? Were they keen to tell you about the spots you sailed past? Did the make a mean cocktail, or even just have, like your friendly chat? Bad vibes from the crew could also make for one long day. If I recall, the crew was super young, seemingly club workers earning extra. So what do you reckon? I could be judging wrongly!

Value for Money: Is It Worth the Cost?

Now we get to the crux, literally, to figure out if this trip is worth, the money you’re parting with. So, the cruises aren’t what you might call, cheap. Often, they promise that special experience. Considering that crowds, and those food quality issues and those long swims, it’s possibly not the cheapest or most fulfilling route you might want to take. However, a day on what might be, that boat is quite special, but, also bear in mind what are clearly, all those small considerations too. Did that cost mirror the pleasure?

Sometimes, the views of Delos are amazing and seeing history does feel rather surreal. Also, being on that boat can be fun, and those stops at the water very memorable if the location is right. Nevertheless, you have to weight it all carefully to make it a dream rather than just a day, just, on the sea!
