Unveiling Nusa Penida’s East Side: An Honest Tour Review
Nusa Penida is that beautiful island just southeast of Bali, Indonesia. Known for its dramatic cliffs and untouched beaches, it’s just now growing in popularity. Getting there could be just a little complicated, usually that includes a ferry from Bali, but that is part of the adventure, right? I took a tour focusing that one day just on the eastern side of the island, and I figured it would be pretty nice to share what that was like. Basically, I’ll go just a bit over what I saw, what I liked, and any tips for someone just like you if you happen to be planning that trip yourself. You know?
Choosing the Right Tour for You
So, picking a tour is something you would want to spend time on. First, look at what exactly you want to see. Do you, like, want just a casual day seeing, you know, beaches and viewpoints? Or maybe you prefer to go to places that are just more off the beaten path. On the east side of Nusa Penida, generally you are looking at stuff such as Diamond Beach, Atuh Beach, and those island viewpoints. Too, consider what exactly is included. Does the tour price get you transport from your accommodation, ferry tickets, lunch, and entry fees?
I personally chose that private tour since I really, you know, wanted to move at my own speed, rather than following, like, some big group. It ended up being just a bit more money, I guess, but, you see, that was truly just worth it for the flexibility. Anyhow, a smaller group tour might be something to look into, that will keep costs, well, you know, just a little lower, while still giving you a chance for, well, personalized attention. Anyway, before you confirm something, read reviews just like this. Check what others are basically saying about that tour operator’s reliability, the guide’s know-how, and that condition that the vehicles are in. Just saying.
Diamond Beach: A Dazzling Start
Our very first stop, then, that was Diamond Beach, and, wow, so, it basically took my breath. Getting down to the beach might be a bit of something because you are descending steep stairs that were cut right into the cliff. It felt perfectly okay but still, wear just, well, you know, appropriate footwear. The effort basically to get there is totally something when you see those turquoise waters and that striking rock formation giving it that name, Diamond Beach. That sand there is just incredibly soft, that water is tempting, alright, but keep, like, an eye on the current since those can be pretty strong sometimes. I would stay there all day if I could!
Spending some time here to, like, really appreciate those views from the top is completely cool if, maybe, you do not feel that you could manage just getting all the way down. Maybe the beach just looks incredible from that vantage point. The views look straight out of that postcard, you know? Just trust me.
Atuh Beach: A Secluded Paradise
Atuh Beach was our next thing. Getting there could be a little different than at Diamond Beach. This time, that walk down includes this path that’s more established and more stable. Too, Atuh Beach is quite secluded and basically framed by spectacular cliffs and clear waters, so, it provides such a different, yet, you know, similarly stunning kind of experience. What I did like a little about Atuh, I would say, are those little warungs right on the beach that basically offer fresh coconut water and some Indonesian dishes. That being said, just unwind under that shade of that umbrella and enjoy that tranquil surrounding. Sounds amazing.
Swimming here felt much more something since the water might be just a little bit calmer compared to what you would expect at Diamond Beach. Still, anyway, keep an eye for those waves. Each of those rock formations here basically gives that beach, alright, that dramatic backdrop, making that a paradise just for people taking pictures. Just saying.
Thousand Island Viewpoint (Pulau Seribu): An Ocean of Islands
Pulau Seribu, meaning basically Thousand Islands, it offers arguably the most panoramic views from my tour. From up there, there is basically this series of island outcrops basically stretching out into that ocean, giving you such a remarkable view. That climb might be a bit of that test of endurance, basically there are stairs and uneven paths, but you will be paid back for that with the sights you are going to witness at that top.
Taking that time here basically just to breathe that fresh sea air and basically soak it all up would really be awesome, mostly if you are there in the morning before it could get a bit crowded. Actually, the views here are that gorgeous so many couples go there and get photos, so, you would definitely witness things like that happening there if you visit too, as I said before. Just try and see if you could basically spot that Rumah Pohon “tree house” from up there; basically it’s just another spot for tourists.
Things I Wish I Knew Before I Went
Okay, that island might be bigger than you believe and roads, well, just to be frank, not always the best. Basically arrange your transportation ahead of time, that will just make that things way easier. Anyway, that roads basically leading to all those attractions can sometimes be, like, quite bumpy and very narrow, too it’s almost quite useful when that locals drive scooters or smaller cars.
Beginning the tour pretty early means beating some crowds, getting you some peace and space to truly admire any of the beaches before just all the tourists show up. Be sure to, anyway, bring sunscreen, any hats, or shades basically due to that sun and since most places there provide such little in the way of any shady spots. Keep, at least, like, a small backpack and you fill it up with a reusable water bottle basically so that you always remain very hydrated, and too it’s almost pretty nice that you will contribute reducing, you know, the waste. Alright?
What to Bring With You
Knowing something to bring can affect that comfort and happiness basically during your tour. Okay, so, first bring that sunscreen which has got just high SPF and apply that often, alright? The sun might be, like, extremely intense there, so, protection from it will be truly important. You might have, arguably, the best time if you also bring sunglasses and something such as a hat, these will give you extra protection from the sunlight, and it might be that you will find just that those might improve your sight, basically specifically if you plan being there from noon on. I feel, well, a swimsuit might be kind of necessary to bring with you and basically quick-drying towel basically if you plan basically to do some dipping at any beaches, such as Atuh.
Being comfy should basically really be a big part of your thinking process as well as thinking what to bring there. That’s mostly when getting suitable footwear gets that necessary amount. That comfortable pair of walking shoes or hiking sandals is just a big yes. Wearing footwear such as this helps just going for a walk around all the places without a discomfort, if not any injuries.
Food and Drink on the Eastern Side
While just touring through the eastern side, just like most, probably you will get an opportunity to try that local food. Too it’s almost often Indonesian cuisine is such a feast on any senses. Just imagine being there basically indulging on meals and refreshing any beverages while having beautiful, panoramic views surrounding you, right? Be sure to, anyway, bring small cash just if you intend basically buying something on local stores on just warungs, a smaller restaurant and a food stall. Sometimes, just credit cards won’t cut it.
Try any iconic meal such as Nasi Goreng, well, arguably fried rice, which you can see basically just about anywhere there. If you think that being very hydrated is one important element in your book, think about grabbing coconut water to have just that refreshment, because sometimes heat might be just extremely high on Penida.

So, to answer something if the East Side Tour basically fits that travelling desires of you depends on things like what travel preferences and interests you got. Anyone who has keen affection in the nature’s scenery can feel basically just mesmerised, as all these landscapes which are something on its own basically has all sorts of unique points that’s not the same anywhere.
