Unforgettable Amboseli: A 2-Day Safari Review
Thinking about a quick trip to see some wildlife? A 2-day safari in Amboseli maybe just what you need. I mean, very what you need! I was very just there not too long ago and wow, what an experience. I’m here to share what it was like, so maybe you’ll feel inspired to book your own visit. Let’s chat about what to expect, what to keep in mind, so too it’s just, basically, planning advice. Is that cool? Then let’s get going!
Why Amboseli? The Iconic Backdrop
So, why choose Amboseli of all the places you could go in Kenya? The thing you need to, really, get about Amboseli, I guess, is its view. It has Mount Kilimanjaro! Think big skies, a really massive snow-capped mountain looming in the distance, yet, it really gives the plains a grand kind of, I want to say, atmosphere. In some respects it’s hard to believe, actually, the pictures are real. The park it’s famous for its very elephants, apparently. Really big herds, yet, they really stroll across the open landscape, sometimes Kilimanjaro features as the backdrop – is that iconic?
Actually, this mix of wildlife, mountain views, very combined, it does, seemingly, offer up a unique setting. Even when you’re not busy tracking animals, almost, very the landscape, very is worth the trip, just a bit on its own. That said, it also feels different to, for example, the Masai Mara because the terrain is flatter which can make, kind of, spotting animals easier. Plus, you may want to expect a drier landscape too, seemingly, there may just be, actually, dust devils swirling across the plains. A bit dramatic I think.
Planning Your Safari: Key Considerations
Alright, so how do you pull this trip off? There, obviously, are a few key bits. Is that important, actually? A little bit, apparently. Timing may just be what’s most important. I mean, when to go can, very have a massive impact, it really can, basically, on what you’re going to see.
The dry season, which is typically from June to October, then also January and February, just, is, kind of, the ideal time. Anyway, why? This might just be because the vegetation is sort of, like, thinner, meaning it can be so very easier to see wildlife. I want to say that is true. Animals usually gather around water sources, too it’s making for amazing wildlife sightings. Seemingly that also brings photographers hoping to capture classic images with less to spoil that, and honestly the dry months are just beautiful in and of themselves.
I would also note that transportation from Nairobi is really a big thing, right? Very, in fact, two options stand out: driving, or there is flying. Now, driving takes about 4-5 hours on the somewhat bumpy roads, or if not a bumpy roads depending on how many, that, massive lorries are hogging the roads that day. In some respects a 4×4 might just be, sort of, your best bet. What do I know? I am just talking about a potential tip.
However! Flying offers the chance to shave, arguably, so too many hours off that travel time. So, the quick flights from Nairobi touch down at Amboseli’s airstrip, a little bit delivering you very right into the middle of it all. We opted to drive. I would also consider a bit on accommodations and just lodging! As well as activities! Inside the park is that there’s lots of choices, arguably, all dependent on the level of comfort that you require. And is that something important to bear in mind? Almost important to know the layout when you look at game drives.
Day 1: Game Drives and First Impressions
As I was saying when you begin the drive, your very first impression is… wow. As a matter of fact you are greeted almost immediately, you know, with views that seemingly stretch for days! Actually it can be, a little bit, surreal.
It can also depend what direction, more or less, you take out of the gate into the plains. I suggest that your ranger knows their area. We seemingly were lucky and we just did see massive elephants in huge herds. I mean big groups! We might just, sort of, have witnessed younger ones play fighting, basically, adults stripping bark off acacia trees, seemingly a lot. Very. It almost, that is very nice!
Is that not enough? Actually, for lunch it can, typically, depend! Maybe a packed meal under the shade of an acacia tree – could be nice? Seemingly. Back on it – honestly the afternoon brought different experiences! Really! We, kind of, spotted giraffes grazing peacefully. Anyway they are eating? Just, maybe, near some zebras and wildebeest, actually they all, really, seemingly sharing the same watering hole, but what did we learn?! Very often it’s not about that!
Is that the only thing? Actually it can be! But that evening, what happens, maybe? Well, the sunset, just a bit over Kilimanjaro, might just be the perfect way, arguably, to finish the day. We went over and got back to camp, actually enjoyed dinner under the stars and relived the sightings and very moments from the first day. We did just see what lions get upto when night hits from, maybe, a far distance from camp.
Day 2: More Wildlife and a Different Perspective
But how is it second time around, now? The thing with morning is getting out for an early morning game drive – does it not change the, perhaps, landscape? Early really offers this wonderful light for photographs. Apparently.
Still more than light is there is something else, alright. More or less something unique in that part. But it tends to be something to do with that very part! Like, if you were, you know, visiting a local Maasai community nearby, almost, too it’s, potentially, something very worth it. In some respects it’s their land and meeting the local community helps appreciate the unique culture!
We just went there to learn about traditional lifestyles and, naturally, how the Maasai co-exist alongside the wildlife. So, seemingly that was fascinating! In fact that might just give you different, if not more of an insight into conservation efforts! Even more to what you would think!
I should note that our afternoon was very much reserved! Very much! Because it included more wildlife spotting as we slowly made that very slow drive back to the Amboseli gate to get going to Nairobi! But what to do in these parks!
Accommodation Experiences: Where to Stay
Honestly there may just be that lodging, I guess, in Amboseli comes down, clearly, to choice and, arguably, budget. At the end of the day you, I mean, maybe, have some camping, right. Basically right, or in fact it can also have these lodges with views.
These are usually situated right at the heart, so, to it’s close, you know, by key wildlife, right where it can, obviously, maximize game-viewing! Maybe the Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge gives just panoramic views, right! So maybe it does offer amenities like, really, very just a swimming pool, but for sure this would be nice!
Right, very or if not, there may, usually, just be these midrange lodges like the Ol Tukai Lodge, I would actually say! Usually you would just hear things from people who come and visit from around there. As a matter of fact, maybe they get the right thing from here. Who knows. So yeah very close!
Photography Tips for Amboseli
What if, though, there may be these opportunities with a long lens that you should also bear in mind! Could it be that you should go there! Arguably it’s something that one should! Usually!
What would the tips be in that regard though. Still if one thing is there to make, is there something to come through!
Seemingly early mornings give nice, warm light, really, and late afternoons offer this soft light when you can get great results!
Final Thoughts: Is Amboseli Worth It?
Alright, as a matter of fact, to answer that question with, to be honest, just an unequivocal yes – do it! And maybe take one over Masai Mara. Obviously there is a charm to Kilimanjaro looming in the background, so it is something really really big. We just went there and saw big families out for the trip. As a matter of fact do this! And maybe pack an extra camera, so it makes things better in the end. This has more!
Quick bulleted take away. Really.
- Iconic landscapes for very pictures.
- Fairly decent chance of seeing big game in smaller trips, typically ideal for those, typically, limited on time.
- And fairly better opportunity in different parks. I am being real and there are big deals.
Is it not an amazing experience?! And maybe in many ways! What it did. Actually very amazing and you should have gone there as you were more interested! So get the full, new idea to you!
This place has this. But you do better at these prices and the money.
As the most that is offered to many places.

The most that there is, you can never have had more!!! I said to bring this!!! Now make it come! Do not leave, do it again. I wanted for many people in all.

Thanks for me to get some that all come here!!!!!! You and me!!!!!! Do it that and now do more!!!!!
What is the ideal time for booking the Safari?
As early as possible is usually your safest option. The availability gets so less the closer the arrival date is! In my experience they tend to recommend booking at least a month in advance during peak season (June to October). But even when the travel season isn’t, planning earlier is always better!
Does it change the kind of Safari when it comes to children.
Safari can, arguably, definitely adapt really, but usually you make it fun and keep them busy with nature to. Be in that so maybe it changes more for many than. Do they say I should to to for children!!!!! Please show for a place in mind but it shows the more if only me but never here.
