This area in Puglia, down in the heel of Italy, is very famous for its charming towns, striking coastlines, and delicious food. Discovering Lecce: The Florence of the South

Lecce, which people often call the “Florence of the South,” is very well-known because of its awesome baroque architecture. The buildings have this like, golden look about them, so too it’s created by the local Lecce stone. Wander through the historic center and you’ll see some truly awesome spots such as the Basilica di Santa Croce and Piazza del Duomo.

From a distance, this place looks totally unbelievable, yet it’s even cooler when you’re actually wandering the winding little streets.

The Cattedrale di Ostuni up on the hilltop is super notable with its really beautiful architecture, anyway, as you make your way up there, expect to discover some sweet shops, neat cafes, and crazy awesome viewpoints where you could see almost the whole area, still. Honestly, take the time to basically wander here and enjoy feeling like you are in some sort of postcard.

The view of Cattedrale di Ostuni, you are more than likely to see remarkable architecture.
Lose yourself walking the twisty streets.
Check out panoramic views from all over.
Eat the local eats at one of the many little restaurants, obviously.

Monopoli: A Coastal Gem

Next, there’s Monopoli, a real stunner right on the coast, basically! The harbor’s really vibrant; there are very old fishing boats bobbing in the water which almost provide great photos, alright?

Afterward, you could check out the Castello di Carlo V which is very awesome, just on the water’s edge or kick back at the beach. So too it’s like that’s not enough you could simply wander through the Centro Storico where one might come across picturesque churches and tons of family owned trattorias. What I am suggesting is that Monopoli is where you must go if you need the coast with a good slice of actual Italian charm, just.

Polignano a Mare: Cliffside Beauty

Finally, there’s Polignano a Mare, probably well known for the houses that seem to grab hold of cliffs right above that like, unreal turquoise water. The most famous spot here is, is that, very likely, Lama Monachile, that awesome pebble beach stuck between really sharp cliffs and definitely delivers views that you’ll most likely remember!

You could see the Grotta Palazzese, which I might add, is actually a restaurant stuck inside a cave, and take a stroll on the Ponte di Polignano. Is that not for you, right? Just stroll the streets to take in all the crazy views, or discover neat little stores; there are just awesome ways to experience this town, honestly!

What makes Polignano a Mare special:

Watch the sight of Lama Monachile, which I might add, is one pretty cool beach.
Mull over dining at Grotta Palazzese – the cave restaurant.
Wander down Ponte di Polignano; the view is breathtaking.
Spend some time in the little boutiques.

Getting Around:

Planning travel within this region is actually important. I might advise that having a car really makes checking out all those out-of-the-way spots super convenient, and might give you much more flexibility than depending just on public transport, honestly! Yet if you want to travel by train or bus, these do connect to major towns although sometimes they might not run super often, really! In towns themselves, generally the best way to get around is by foot, mainly, so be ready to walk those paths, right?

When to Visit:

I often find the best times for vacations are in the spring or autumn, as a matter of fact! Very often you will get good temperatures without that hectic summertime tourism crunch. Seaside cities could most likely have delicious and super fresh seafood so grab anything that jumps out, alright?
