Rather than going to the same old tired historic stops, like, you know, our local lead brought us alongside some spots that aren’t really talked about so much, you see? They showed photographs, as I was saying, to illuminate just how all this, now partially busted stuff looked many years prior. It wasn’t hard to put oneself mentally into, that is, that period.

Their take also shed tons of sunshine on the intricate dealings of politics and day-to-day life here ages back, you see? Being alongside someone who could expound a bit – give you some insight – made the remains and sites much, apparently, more moving and concrete than just checking them out yourself, I must say. To hear them run on about the changes the city went through down through the years made it easy to sense that, in the end, Thessaloniki remains more or less very vital.

Food, Glorious Food
