Tenerife North Coast Private Tour: A Detailed Review

Okay so, you’re thinking about checking out the north side of Tenerife, right? And the idea of a chill private tour sounds way better than, you know, those super packed tourist buses? Very good. So actually, Tenerife’s northern coast it’s almost like a totally separate piece of land from the south. Basically, it’s much more green, the air is fresher, and honestly, it just feels a little bit more local. This review? It’s really just my experience kicking back on a recent private tour. I will go over the stuff I saw, what I liked, and some maybe bits that could have been a little bit better, and of course if it’s a vibe for you. Let’s go!

Why Choose a Private Tour?

You see, group tours? Great if you’re trying to, maybe, meet a bunch of folks, however too it’s a little like herding cats, you know? Always someone’s late, somebody wants to take 800 photos of that same exact palm tree, that you just saw five minutes ago. I get it. So anyway, a private tour, right, is completely different. The whole trip can be totally moulded around what *you* want to check out. Like, if you’re super into old architecture? Great, spend three hours gawking. Like, if you want to just chill at a secluded beach a bit, right? Boom, your tour guide might just chill with you, while you are doing that. Or not, they also understand and they can find some coffee for themselves. It’s all you. For me? I’m all for flexibility.

The Allure of Tenerife’s North Coast

The north of Tenerife has like, a vibe that’s quite a bit unlike the south. The south is, say, beaches and resorts that look all sunny, and bright and perfect, but the north is rather dramatic, really. Very lush greenery spills down towards craggy coasts, so in a way that’s pretty impressive. The weather it almost tends to be, well, moody, very, you know? Often you get mist floating between these crazy steep hills, and that honestly gives every single spot a sort of magical, mystery kinda feeling. In reality, for photography? Perfect. And you know it almost feels like you’ve been transported back in time. Many of these charming small towns haven’t really changed that much at all in 50 years. To walk through there, that could be an unforgettable kind of experience.

Stops That Made the Trip: Highlights of the Tour

La Orotava: History in Every Stone

Very first off, La Orotava, I think, was definitely one of my very favourite places that I ended up visiting on the whole tour. Very old houses, cobblestone paths—I mean seriously, it looked like I had actually wandered onto a movie set, in some way! Did you know? It is that those “Casas con Balcones” are completely incredible. Big old houses that have these, very stunning wooden balconies? It just seemed amazing. Very elaborate designs, bright vibrant flowers… The work that was put into those designs is really something. We even, actually, got a chance to peek inside one which has like a cute little courtyard with crazy plants and everything, and I feel like they really brought everything together to kind of tell us its story about what happened way back when.

Puerto de la Cruz: A Classic Coastal Town

I visited this place when I felt like grabbing a snack that, Puerto de la Cruz seemed to offer, like, a whole totally different energy than La Orotava. Sort of. This is really where things felt a bit more “touristy”, I suppose. So that you should expect. Still, I liked that I got a walk all the way alongside the harbour, where all these local fishermen seemed to gather themselves. And you see, “Lago Martianez”? The man César Manrique thought of all the stuff around the ocean like lagoons. I am still amazed how people had time for it! I do think its almost beautiful. You should spend a bit there at the beachfront shops or bars. So grab some seafood there, you may not get a similar quality ever. To top it all off, I think that prices seem quite modest, and food tastes better on holidays!

Anaga Rural Park: Nature’s Masterpiece

Anaga Rural Park could be like whoa. Basically, after the city and stuff, heading up into these hills felt like I travelled over to a different piece of land altogether! Twisted old trees blanketed with moss everywhere, basically so much so that the sun has like problems reaching to you. We trekked around, maybe an hour through some trails, so this feels actually kinda unreal; Like, honestly something outta a fairytale. In the case of photography? You would have a blast here. Also, I suggest you to just make sure to take hiking shoes, because paths can get a tad slippery in that humid environment! We actually had an awesome view that stretched out over all of the mountains from our high point too.

What a “Private Tour” Can Get You That Others Cannot

Having my private guide was basically better compared to having to follow, maybe, a flag in a huge crowd. I will say, actually he knew everything. Plus, he also was keen to chat all day long so the car travel times weren’t tiresome at all, that’s why those trips were really valuable too. Any question on, where’s good local food spots, old historical data—anything really. I did also make it a thing to tell him stop wherever it looks good. I never saw anyone getting mad about it, not even slightly! So you see, that makes me want to say that you are free, at all times. In many ways.

Some “Need to Knows” Before Booking

So you should probably check out which timeframe will get you, like, the best of each place; Not all tours may be alike. To put it briefly, prices go higher according to what’s scheduled, actually, to see and how long you can take; So if the top cost is actually scaring you? Perhaps try cutting off a few extras, but if you want my advice you really should make your own list of “priorities” first. Finally, read reviews really closely and sort by “relevancy”, that may give a really great look from other like-minded peeps too.

Would I Book Again?

The experience I got on that north Tenerife tour felt good and was very pleasing actually; Very flexible schedules coupled together with just amazing vistas makes up for any slightly bad part like “this location is too filled with tourists for my comfort”. After this awesome day there’s still much more for others as far as how different parts can offer a lot for them – really depending by that taste anyway and who you bring and whether they really wanna chill outside amongst the nature, with family having light travel too.

All points considered I cannot do but advise to go on your private-driven time on your trips if they are priced alright and do make something unforgettable from visiting north coast scenery here at magnificent Tenerife.
