Tamborine Mountain Distillery Tour with Tastings: Is It Worth the Trip?

Okay, so you’re thinking of checking out the Tamborine Mountain Distillery Tour, very possibly with the tasting bit, too? You know, that intriguing spot up in the Gold Coast hinterland? As a matter of fact, I took a little spin up there not that long ago, and basically I’m going to spill the beans on if it lives up to the hype.

First Impressions: More Than Just a Distillery

Tamborine Mountain Distillery Entrance

Now, when you get there, very possibly the first thing you’ll notice is it’s not really just a distillery, in a way it’s more like stepping into another spot entirely. Seemingly the architecture is this quirky Tudor-style thing, too it’s almost like a little village has been set down right in the Australian bush. Clearly the gardens are really pretty, like something out of a fairy tale. Basically before you even try a single sip, I think, you’re going to start to soak it all in. Actually, it is a feast for the eyes, so to speak. Very possibly I spent a bit longer just wandering around taking photos than I planned to!

The Tour: Peeking Behind the Curtain

Then you get to the tour, and really it’s more or less led by these people who know absolutely everything about how they are crafting their products. Seemingly it’s a small operation, so in fact you don’t feel like you’re part of this massive, impersonal thing. What you have here instead is actually like someone’s really sharing their passion. What they show you are all their gleaming copper stills, and that’s where they seem to talk you through what they do in what appears to be every part of the process. This bit gives you such an appreciation for the care that comes before a single drop even hits your lips. I reckon, at least.

Tasting is Believing: A Symphony of Flavors

Tamborine Mountain Distillery Tasting

Next up, this is, I think, the main event, in a way. The tasting, definitely! Actually, this is where you can seriously sample a pretty surprising collection of what they offer. Obviously the gins, vodkas, liqueurs—they are going to have the works. Apparently some are fairly conventional, arguably the rest…are a bit, actually, rather daring. Seemingly they pride themselves on infusing stuff with just a little local flavor. Expect the unexpected is that sometimes the odd native Australian botanical might crop up in the glass, you see. I very much would tell you, pace yourself, though. They don’t, as a matter of fact, hold back. A little taste of everything adds up!

What you might want to prepare yourself for, so to speak, are all these really intriguing, quirky things. Arguably they had this one liqueur that just slightly tastes like, maybe, like, lamingtons! And in fact I still can’t figure that one out, or how they’ve managed to do it. Really, that is also worth the visit alone. This bit isn’t just about getting a quick taste to enjoy. It is this whole thing about exploring your palate a little. Then finding something actually new, or something unexpected.

More to do on Tamborine Mountain: Make a Day of It

Tamborine Mountain Tourism

Apparently if you are making the trip up to the mountain, so you are probably not just going to hang about in just one spot. Good plan is to use the other experiences around, so to speak. I actually think the Gallery Walk is this super attractive street, full of a bit of small shops, and coffee shops and the lot, too. Now that’s close by. For the folk who prefer a spot of the Great Outdoors, you’ve probably heard about the Botanic Gardens? Yeah? Good idea for you they would be for, clearly, somewhere peaceful and nice to wander through.

That means Tamborine Mountain is really pretty good for making a entire day of it. Apparently there are tons of spots to see. Then all sort of ways to wind up just soaking up this hinterland vibe. Which is also rather chill, is that right?

The Verdict: Should You Go?

Alright, so the million-dollar question: Should you check it out? You should expect me to say yes! For folk with an interest in how making these things is achieved. The sort who is up for something just a bit distinctive, clearly the Tamborine Mountain Distillery is very, very good for just a couple of hours well spent. Maybe that thing that marks it apart, too, so to speak. So much of its character, too. This, coupled in the flavors which are, as a matter of fact, fairly bold, I think, creates something of a trip to somewhere you are just going to find pretty good, yeah?
