Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope & Penguin Colony: A Full Day Review
South Africa, a pretty diverse place, too it’s almost got a bucket-list kind of draw for pretty many people, is that right? And a pretty favored way to sorta soak up a lot of what makes Cape Town amazing is the Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, and Penguin Colony full-day tour. That’s why I thought I’d give my take on the thing, tell ya just a little about the adventure, so ya can know what you are getting yourself into. Did the day live up to what I was expecting? Should it get a thumbs up? Keep reading, and I’ll share some opinions of mine.
Up, Up to Table Mountain
The day tends to start off pretty early, which might be something that folks need to know when they consider their choices, you know? From what I saw, the most popular tour, anyway, involves getting picked up from your place; handy indeed. Now, Table Mountain, right? The mood depends very much on what’s going on with the weather that morning. So, there might be views for days, but the famous ‘tablecloth’ cloud cover, in some respects, might come along too. Yet even with some clouds dancing around, it is still very special. Taking the cable car is quite exciting, as a matter of fact, what with the way the floor slowly turns around so you can see everything. Once up there? It just might be that there aren’t words enough to explain what it feels like to glance out at the views. Looking out across the city, seeing the ocean expand outwards…yeah, it’s worth doing.
Onward, to the Cape of Good Hope
After soaking in all of Table Mountain’s goodness, next you travel to the Cape of Good Hope; what a trip that part turns out to be, very! Along the way, it is just possible that you’ll take in views of the coastline, each as nice as the last. You just might spot some local towns. There’s very, very often a stop at one particular viewing area to get the view over False Bay. A bit breathtaking if you’re anything like me. The Cape of Good Hope is just something you have to witness, you know? Something you see in photographs, sure, that. Yet to stand where two oceans come together feels, in some respects, a little magical. Walking around there, with the wind whipping about, well, it feels special, right. So bring something along to keep warm.
The Penguins of Boulders Beach
Let me tell you now that nobody must not like to see the penguins, what I am saying, right? After the Cape, it is almost certain you are off to Boulders Beach. The penguins are quite fun; just see them waddle about, and it’s quite tricky not to grin, honestly. There’s a boardwalk that keeps people and penguins separate (mostly), meaning you can grab some great photos without upsetting these local folks. They’re small, yeah, and some people can get rather near. Anyway, just to be clear; this place, you have to go there, clearly!
What About Lunch? And the Other Good Stuff?
Most of these tours will often throw in lunch, so check what they have going, right. Plenty will find themselves at a nice spot in Simon’s Town, maybe; chowders and seafood come very highly regarded in those places, very. But tours may involve stops at craft markets, places where the local population come from. It just might be an ideal opportunity to buy a little something, yes?
Is This Tour Right for You, Then?
OK, so who would get the most from the full-day experience? Well, there’s a lot to like, I would add, is that right? If seeing the best of Cape Town’s sights comes very high on your agenda, the tour does provide a very neat way of making it happen. Think: if time’s really tight, the travel gets sorted for you, in some respects it could be you! You might love it if the local wildlife interests you, you know? Seeing penguins in the wild is kinda something else. Anyway, it’s not the best idea if spending loads of time at each spot seems important. Or you want a real quiet kinda day. Just remember that things move quickly and the buses have pretty tight timetables. Anyway, if time seems a thing, and seeing a good bit of what Cape Town has is the target, this tour is almost certainly spot-on, honestly.
