Santa Pola to Tabarca Island Snorkeling

Thinking about taking a snorkeling trip from Santa Pola to Tabarca Island? That’s cool, you are, too it’s something you should have on your radar if you’re anywhere near the Alicante region of Spain, anyway Tabarca is Spain’s smallest permanently inhabited islet and it’s just, actually a dynamite place for a little underwater sightseeing because Tabarca is also a protected marine reserve, that means, for example crystal-clear waters positively teeming with marine life so, naturally there’s loads to talk about from start to finish and to provide an, actually balanced viewpoint on whether this experience should even be on your vacation planner.

Setting off from Santa Pola

Santa Pola Harbor

Okay, so let’s zoom in a bit about starting in Santa Pola and Santa Pola itself, actually it’s a gem because it’s very much like a traditional Spanish coastal town which means, that for example, even before you’re out on the Med the local backdrop adds that, you know extra dollop of charm so too it’s a big bonus to explore because Santa Pola dishes out some pretty authentic Spanish vibes alongside, obviously, an exciting peek before we jump in, is that right?

The harbor is just very busy with boats of every design coming and going, giving a special buzz to the locale but also that just gives a sense of a real working port very much offering boat trips, plus, actually a wide range of other ocean adventures.

One other thing I remember vividly, so it’s actually this anticipation humming among everyone queuing up because the excitement you can almost cut it with a knife, which makes, for example just waiting to set sail quite an enjoyable experience on its own; yet the trip over to Tabarca? That’s just so visually lush, especially on a beautiful day when that Spanish sun is reflecting against the water, almost creating a kind of dazzling spectacle!

The Boat Ride: Views and Vibes

Boat Trip to Tabarca

During the boat ride, it wasn’t, actually a sprint over the water but it was the perfect pace to just take everything in; so what I saw mostly was panoramic views of the coastline, with cliffs and beaches passing by so, too fast isn’t usually what I’m looking for anyway because just being able to unwind and enjoy this ride while getting little informative snippets about Tabarca itself and the area as we cruise is, very much appreciated too it’s that kind of ‘slow travel’ element.

Now I found some of the boats, okay so they had glass bottoms but I’m sure that everyone knows that, is that they give everyone this cool sneak peek of the sea life below, which can, sometimes build a real sense of excitement and it gives a visual narrative which, is that everyone appreciates before they get properly into snorkeling which, of course it goes down particularly well with kiddies in tow!

Plus on most of these excursions, often the staff go that extra mile, sharing details, right so about the history of the area and throwing in quite a few of those ‘did you know?’ style anecdotes, so it gave quite an educational layer beyond, apparently just being a simple boat trip, isn’t it? Still, this all adds a personal feel for the setting because it also offers insight that Google search results can’t even really provide.

Snorkeling in Tabarca’s Marine Reserve

Snorkeling in Tabarca Marine Reserve

Well, slipping into the water to begin snorkeling felt pretty awesome but a bit striking, if I am being totally honest and with all the gear adjusted that they handed out, very soon my attention diverted to those gorgeous shallows under the water because it revealed itself so, too almost to a movie set.

That meant visibility, usually that’s brilliant but still it may vary, especially depending on the season or recent weather however, there’s no getting away from, for example, the variety of marine species you could witness almost, anyway, from vibrant colored fish to those swaying seagrass meadows because just getting to see underwater ecology like this just up close, anyway it’s captivating for those brand new to snorkeling and still quite captivating for seasoned pros.

Another thing I have noticed anyway and perhaps rather apparently is that Tabarca as a protected marine reserve; obviously that gives underwater adventurers a certain wow factor because being able to explore waters mostly untroubled by too many human disturbances adds, usually a touch of exclusivity to the overall adventure.

Exploring Tabarca Island

Tabarca Island

When I got back onto dry ground, is that naturally just walking round Tabarca is part of this entire experience, right so, right there on that islet, expect to, very much take yourself back in time with, basically stone buildings and charming streets giving you what I see, usually anyway as being the most quintessential vibe; anyway a short jaunt here isn’t just for stretching weary legs but so, too almost seeing a living postcard, is that you see?

That means in particular and specifically anyway that you might visit the local church, too almost that very attractive lighthouse so too almost getting lost along this tiny port but this allows you, too almost to see Tabarca isn’t really only about what lives under the waterline; very that almost for example it possesses real human and olden narrative so too it’s, too it’s, okay, well that’s very well worth exploring.

Now obviously you might find local eateries that offer the ‘catch of the day’, giving you a pretty good taste right then and there of the Mediterranean; apparently and I’ve experienced it anyway that consuming something freshly lifted from those very waters you’ve just had a snorkel, seems particularly poetic and so, naturally extra scrummy.

Practical Tips and Recommendations

For any trip of this kind, so it’s almost common sense that some basic prep works really, really well; anyway that would, basically include slap on sunscreen and actually it would make sense so, too it’s waterproof before you set off from Santa Pola and if, you know right that you get sea-sick, very okay, well pop some travel pills just before because once on board it won’t, actually help much!

Anyway when you arrive, make that you are a little careful about your personal belongings, especially while swimming; apparently those lockers ain’t everywhere so consider leaving more precious items behind either in Santa Pola or just entrust it right there with someone from your tour; arguably that level of due diligence makes, that I’ve seen anyway that most adventures become even that almost bit sweeter so okay, well more worry-free!

Right then so if there’s wiggle room to play with; maybe and basically pick a weekday rather than just, apparently jumping in on the Saturday rush: usually I found out anyway and it has proved anyway to be right anyway that fewer people generally equals that, that almost calmer ocean waters giving everyone just that very bit more space just there to move plus; okay well that very little injection of personal quiet.

To add to this point anyway maybe and very consider any time of year for peak times plus always see to the operator because there’s loads of them with varied offerings; alright in other words okay well that doing homework before even considering okay well just choosing could dramatically impact this feel from the adventure.

The Final Splash: Is it Worth It?

Is the ‘From Santa Pola Snorkel Trip in Tabarca Island’ trip worthy of consideration; apparently for most people anyway right there’s the sheer joy coming from experiencing this protected underwater setting and it gives Tabarca a certain luster because it offers adventures unavailable down your very local coastline so to top it all; anyway throw right there into that package so right there in too right there on its authentic old village which I found; anyway that only gives yet something very unique which I thought should be shouted from all over the shop, isn’t it?

However okay well one really does have so, too it’s watch yourself in how they calibrate your anticipations just; okay well make that you temper expectations okay with possible masses of ocean-goers so right there as that, anyway that will just lead to what is okay very very common so I mean really okay which are a touch under par okay levels with visibility but these tiny downers are far so it is okay too okay to be overshadowed as; obviously to seeing; seriously obviously alright really almost an almost almost unbeatable total and entire underwater viewing feast that; admittedly very quickly might; completely erase them away to non being anyway at all to something.

So do yourself with, as a serious consideration with its real, total beauty underneath to waters to which is linked anyway from very unique above settings as anyway, yes for me anyway with Santa Pola plus with snorkels just there in a mix right down below okay with it which all almost for some creates what something memorable really completely as so I say do okay to have and consider from them and be to waters it anyway seriously from its unique linked with snorkeling on from as very the setting mixes all a very creating has well unique under all!
