Rome Vittoriano & Palazzo Venezia: Is a Rooftop Visit Worth It?
Thinking of checking out the Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia rooftops in Rome? That’s a good idea, too it’s almost a must-do for getting a handle on this historically packed place. I’m going to tell you very briefly what to expect, what you really need to know, and if dropping those euros for a ticket is a solid call. From seeing great statues to crazy views over Rome, there is lots that stands out.
What is the Vittoriano, Actually?
So, just what is this eye-catching, some might say ‘polarizing’, marble building smack in the center of Rome? You’re thinking about the enormous white cake-looking structure that stands out? That’s basically the Vittoriano. As a matter of fact, that it’s more officially known as the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II. It honors Vittorio Emanuele II, the guy who became the very first king of a unified Italy.
Anyway, as I was saying, the monument got started way back in 1885 and it took till 1911 to basically get it done. Often, it’s there to stand for Italian unification and freedom. And I am being serious, too it’s grand, with super statues, tricky carvings, and big columns.
A Spotting Place and More
It might be that you’re also getting other buildings in the mix. But no way! I mean the Vittoriano doesn’t stop with statues. Right up top you can catch what are often some of the best views of the whole city. It’s fairly cool that they provide an elevator to help you out since it would take for-ever to get up all those stairs. And that makes it completely accessible for those who’ve a problem with walking.
The Rooftop View from the Vittoriano: What You’ll See
So, what can you actually expect to lay your eyes on once you make it up? I mean, it gives a solid, wrap-around view that’s more or less impossible to beat. The Forum, Colosseum, and a range of domes and bell towers stretching as far as the eye has strength to see are often really picturesque. On clear days, I want to say that you can really see for miles, picking out very landmarks and very well-known buildings.

Anyway, as I was saying, if you dig photography, this could be said to be like your new haven. So to speak, too it’s possible you can grab great shots from up there. I find it is pretty perfect during sunrise or sunset to grab the town glowing under soft light. It really provides your vacation memories a different kind of quality.

Right, so it could be said that we have gone over the Vittoriano, it’s basically time to check out Palazzo Venezia. It is that really cool palace right nearby with what could be described as serious historical weight.
Anyway, as I was saying, this construction has roots stretching to the mid-1400s. And I am being serious, so for real it’s gotten an unbelievable past! At first, that was built to serve as the pad for papal happenings, then more or less switched over to grow to be the headquarters for Mussolini in the 20th century.
Basically Art and Times Past all Rolled into One
Is that not impressive or what? That it features a gallery jam packed with stuff from many different times? And as I was saying, too it’s got artworks of paintings, sculptures, and cool stuff of its period, too. As a matter of fact, if it’s the kind of stuff you want to look for in a museum, it’s usually there to feed your enthusiasm, that the palazzo actually can deliver.
Palazzo Venezia Rooftop: Secret View?
Yeah, there actually IS a rooftop at Palazzo Venezia. It’s like it is hiding, I swear, from you when seeing a view but is that still more private compared to the Vittoriano. It also is often much less congested, offering for calm, a way to view Rome, as a matter of fact, there are really other views to experience!.
How Does It Compare to the Vittoriano View, By the Way?
There are quite a number of things. It appears I do believe that I do need to point this out. What they really see, for real they have their own style.
