The real winner though had to be the bistecca alla Fiorentina, a massively thick-cut steak simply cooked over an open flame plus seasoned with salt and pepper. It was truly some of the most amazing meat that has passed through my mouth ever. Dessert was straightforward: cantucci (almond biscotti) that was dipped in vin santo, a sweet dessert wine – simple, but perfect for concluding that feast, yet.

However, beyond the stunning food, which was rather impressive to say the least, the real standout part of the evening must’ve been that chat around that dinner table. We talked about everything really, very including Tuscan history and traditions, even like their family histories, plus views on that different approaches to life. It felt like connecting to some people on just like a very human level. You realize, regardless of your origin, most people are genuinely very kind, welcoming, plus so keen to share their world, alright.
Marco shared this charming story of his grandfather planting that olive grove when he got back home from war, plus Lucia talked about learning some family recipes from her grandma, still very traditional dishes and passed down all the generations.
