Review: London, Stonehenge, and Bath Full-Day Tour
Alright, so you’re possibly pondering whether the ‘From London, Stonehenge, and Bath Full-Day Tour with Guide’ is the right thing for your travel list, right? Basically, these types of whirlwind tours can seem pretty tempting – hitting three iconic spots in a single day looks great on paper. As a matter of fact, I went on it, and I am going to share with you my experience, complete with the highs, the lows, and whether I believe it’s worth parting with your money.
Early Start and the Bus Ride
The thing is, expect an early beginning. Like, *really* early. So you will probably be meeting at a central London spot around 7:00 AM. Honestly, not really a party if you’re not much of a morning person. Yet, once you’re on the bus, things, maybe, do start looking brighter. Very important, though: find a seat. Arguably, the bus is usually pretty full, and that early wake-up call could make you tired so you may really wish to catch some sleep during the ride. The ride to Stonehenge is that long, usually around two hours, offering, pretty much, a good chance to recharge before you check out some big stones.
Stonehenge: Up Close and Personal
Reaching Stonehenge is, really, kind of something. That first glimpse of the stones rising out of the Salisbury Plain is, definitely, something you have seen in pictures, that is a bit different when viewed with your own eyes. Even though it might be crowded – as a matter of fact, it usually is – there’s, basically, a tangible sense of history lingering. Yet, the tour generally gives you about an hour to wander around, take some photos, and listen to the audio guide. In a way, it might feel rushed, as a matter of fact when you are trying to soak it all in, it really is a magical place, honestly I think that a bit more time here might be beneficial.
Bath: History and Relaxation
Next stop is Bath! Or at least it’s that what it says on the tin! Any way the drive from Stonehenge to Bath is nearly, often around an hour, giving you more chances to look out of the window. Basically, Bath is that pretty city with a load of Roman and Georgian history. We had about two and a half hours here, arguably it seemed that we were split between seeing the Roman Baths and roaming around the city center. So, the Roman Baths are surprisingly interesting, filled with displays and that history dating back to Roman times. But for one thing, it’s nice, like, to wander around, pop into some shops, and, may be, grab some lunch. That being said, if you want to experience a full relaxation it is a little tight, right?
The Guiding Factor
What’s interesting, the tour has a guide that gives information during the drives and at each site. Sometimes, the quality of the guide really can impact your experience. It may be that a top-notch guide is that great resource of knowledge that can tell interesting anecdotes and provide insight, then honestly I would say that your whole trip can feel much more engaging. On the flip side, though, like a less engaging guide is that that means you might just listen to the audio guides more, it’s almost as if that doesn’t provide as much value.
Is the Tour Worth It?
So, is the tour worth your money and time? Very well, that kind of depends on what you are hoping for. So if you intend to view a lot of different places in a single day and do not mind a rather quick pace, definitely, it is a nice option. The tour’s logistics, it has transportation covered that makes things surprisingly uncomplicated, especially if you are limited to some time or you do not really want to handle the travel yourself. That being said, keep in your mind that you will be spending a lot of time on a bus, and it might be that the time allocated for each place can feel too short.
What to Consider Before Booking
- Pace: Keep in your mind that this tour is very fast-paced. If you prefer delving deeply into a place, this may not, literally, be for you.
- Time of Year: Basically, tours will be more crowded in that summer, also expect that you might get longer queues. Spring or fall can provide a rather fine balance with the weather and crowd control.
- What’s Included: Make really sure what the ticket includes. Arguably, the entry fees may or may not be a part of the tour price, or lunch will be at your own cost.
- Mobility: There’s plenty of walking. So you may have to consider this factor, mostly if that you are with those who have mobility issues.
In a way, the ‘From London, Stonehenge, and Bath Full-Day Tour with Guide’ can work rather fine, that is based on those conditions that are mentioned here. Just a little planning can improve your overall enjoyment, that, for example wearing comfortable shoes is very significant!
What’s interesting, that day tripping to many different and amazing sights that the United Kingdom has to offer is the most unforgettable experience of my entire travel experiences!
