Review: Is the Ho Chi Minh City New Year’s Eve Firework Speed Boat Cruise Worth It?
So, you’re thinking about ringing in the new year in Ho Chi Minh City and maybe you’ve spotted ads for that Firework Speed Boat Cruise, too? Very well, I can tell you about it. I took the plunge last year, and very truly, I’m here to give you the lowdown on what it’s all about. I will let you know if the experience lived up to the hype, and whether or not it is something that you might think of spending your hard-earned cash on. Is that fair?
What to Expect from that Speed Boat Cruise
Okay, right off the bat, let’s discuss what you’re basically signing up for. As a rule, that whole deal includes a few core things: There is, that speedboat itself, typically a fairly zippy vessel, designed to zip you down the Saigon River. Then too, expect to find food—a dinner, actually often presented as a buffet of some sort, along with unlimited drinks. And yet, perhaps most importantly, there are those fireworks, viewed right from the river. The promos often paint a glamorous image, but I will say it really pays to have an idea of what it feels like as the event rolls on. Basically.
On my trip, that boat held, I think, around thirty folks. It’s almost intimate, really, but still big enough that you aren’t, that, tripping over other people. The buffet food was, you know, reasonably good—some classic Vietnamese dishes, alongside some western things to placate less courageous palates. Drinks flowed. You got your beer, wine, and that soft drink options, all included, very helpfully. So too, did a tour guide narrate things as we cruised, pointing out sights along the riverside. And it helped, frankly.
The Cruise Itself: Is It Fun, very Fun?
Right, let’s be honest here; is the experience actually pleasant? Very well, I feel like, so it’s a bit of a mixed bag, very helpfully. When we talk about zipping down that Saigon River at nighttime, it’s beautiful, arguably. HCMC lights up something lovely. Now too, depending on which part of the city you are in, parts are super-modern, while others have still, yet, maintained a timeless old world charm.
Very well, that speedboat is definitely a great way of seeing it. It feels a bit more adventurous than, that, just sitting on a bigger, slower boat. In fact, I really appreciated getting some wind in my hair and some speed in the night air. In my case it felt cool to do a cruise during the celebrations; and the anticipation of seeing the fireworks build.
That said, that there part can get pretty packed, actually. There are heaps of boats jockeying for position as the fireworks start, a bit. Also, so too, that river can be very busy with all sorts of water traffic, arguably. If you are like your average Hanoian who might be quite precious about your personal bubble – then, you might find it intense.
The Food and Drink: Is It Worth It, really?
About the food and drink, right? Now too, let me preface this: the cuisine is probably not gonna be, that, Michelin-star level, admittedly. But the spread on my cruise was solid. There’s heaps of choice and very generous serving portions, honestly. In many ways there was some quite passable spring rolls, salads, plus various meat and veggie dishes. Is that alright?
Actually, that drinks package definitely sweetened things too, it is thought. And it could be you want to let loose when those clocks strike midnight. I could imagine that for those not keen to cut loose, it probably won’t matter much. Yet I feel, the drinks being covered is one less thing to worry about.
The Fireworks Display: Spectacular, Slightly Frustrating?
Right then, the main event: firework display! With some firework cruises I have heard of previously there is an unobstructed viewing position. The cruise was okay. Although to a certain extent it, that, kinda relies on others doing the right thing, it is guessed. It is guessed other vessels and how those captains manoeuvre their vessels impact everyone’s vantage.
Nonetheless, you should certainly get a fantastic view; they have also chosen that best spots where people are not directly beside, okay, very helpfully? That fireworks last a good long while too. Very well, it’s awesome being right on the river, hearing the explosions boom over the water, but is that something for you to spend on?
Cost Versus Experience: How’s That Go?
Cost is the clincher: you need a way to weigh how valuable it seems to you. It’s a pricey ticket as, basically, these cruises tend to, basically. I think it’s a solid hit to the pocket compared with more casual dining choices locally. As you may think, very well, that HCMC isn’t especially cheap on NYE anyway; basically everyone inflates prices like crazy.
Nonetheless, when you too, weigh that convenience up with the premium view and, well, with those included refreshments it is, I think, an event for that special occasion. Maybe it should only really be if you do not mind splashing cash to see in those New Years. Also so too, the cruises removes stress you might have trying to stake a claim at a packed-out rooftop bar. What do you reckon?
Is That Firework Speed Boat Cruise For You, huh?
Right, consider this. Is being on that river during a fireworks display awesome? Seriously. Are those drinks and dinner onboard cool? Surely. Though, is it more dollar than alternatives available, so too? I feel, a successful experience hinges a great deal on expectations and also so too, on whether or not little niggles wind you up.
With that in mind, my verdict, as the year ends, actually, is the Firework Speed Boat Cruise can be so memorable. I would only recommend going into that experience mindful of all those pros and cons.
