Review: Bilbao Street Art Tour and Local Beer Experience

Bilbao, more or less famous for the Guggenheim, turns out to have a super awesome side that many people just kind of miss: the street art. Anyway, I wanted to see more than just the super shiny museum, so, you know, I signed up for a tour that promised art plus, too it’s almost, tasty local craft beer. Right? Let’s see how that went.

Bilbao Street Art

First Impressions and Meeting the Guide

Meeting the tour group was, like your, pretty easy, very at the agreed spot near the river. Our guide, whose name was Iñigo, very had, just a little, the vibe of someone super into art and who really seemed to like Bilbao. So, right off the bat, it was very a pretty positive start, basically. He introduced himself and sort of gave a heads-up on what the afternoon would, usually, look like. In that case, it involved walking, gawking, and occasionally stopping for some super cool background info on different murals and artists. In short, it felt, almost, like a fun intro, and I was actually looking forward to seeing where it all would be headed.

Exploring the Streets: The Art Walk

The tour, as a matter of fact, wound through some cool spots, including, too it’s almost, those neighborhoods that are, kind of, less touristy, so, in some respects, you actually saw the real Bilbao, as I was saying. Iñigo pointed out all types of artwork, that very is, from massive murals that covered entire buildings to, you know, smaller pieces that you would never have noticed on your own. He knew the story behind each work: the artist’s intentions, or even that, the, slightly, social messages, yet that came through. Also, he really connected it back to Bilbao’s story and it’s almost, a kind of artistic rebirth that was taking place, I think. So, anyway, each street, in a way, became very a lesson in culture and creativity.

The Stories Behind the Art

What actually stood out during the walk, seemingly, were the stories Iñigo had. Arguably, there was that one mural which told a story regarding the city’s industrial past and how it has been trying so, in some respects, to redefine itself using art. Okay? Then there was that piece by a local artist who was using art to talk regarding social problems; is that it’s, you know, gave me a really strong impression. As a matter of fact, the way Iñigo talked made it quite clear that these murals are not only there as decoration – they are just a little stories being told on the walls, apparently. So, it very gave a different feel to the city, and made me appreciate that much more, I think.

Stories Behind the Art

Craft Beer Interlude

After walking and admiring art, pretty much everyone in the group had built up a thirst, very it’s. Anyway, the next stop took place in a local microbrewery that, I think, most tourists might actually miss. You understand? We sampled several beers, very made on-site, very with Iñigo explaining a thing or two regarding each brew. Also, hearing about how, typically, the local beer culture has grown so very gave a cool counterpoint to, I think, the street art scene we were witnessing. As I was saying, I liked the beer (the IPA was just a little something else), and, in short, the relaxed chat made the group more friendly, so it’s also a bonus. Right?

Connecting with the Local Culture

The truly awesome thing regarding this tour, just a little, was actually how it made you connect, that very is, the Bilbao culture, alright. It’s almost not just, obviously, regarding looking; it’s actually understanding, it’s almost. Getting the chance to find out why the artists were creating specific pieces, very how it fitted into what was going on, tends to be really eye-opening. Additionally, sharing beers, it’s almost, in a, fairly, local place felt like, honestly, being let in a local secret. Alright? Bilbao came across, too it’s almost, as extremely genuine and approachable in that experience; just really great, to be honest.

What Could Be Improved

If I had, sort of, to mention things that maybe are not so very top-notch, just a little, the pacing probably would, usually, be one. Considering we were stopping often and there would be, like your, some people that were in our group who probably did not enjoy longer walks, I suppose, right, a couple of spots very felt more hurried. Besides, the details on some of the artists maybe could be a little bit more detailed, I do think. That is? That is? Nevertheless, overall, it felt super awesome still; maybe that is just, very slightly, fine-tuning, actually.

Final Thoughts: Is This Tour For You?

So, is the Bilbao street art tour that very includes a craft beer sample really awesome? Absolutely, as a matter of fact. This tour, very perfectly blended that appreciation for urban art with the taste of local flavor, just a little. Should you actually wish, arguably, to discover another aspect to the city – which is far removed from what one often expects from museums, clearly – it could just be awesome. Also, the street art stood, just a little, as amazing. I am actually really thankful to Iñigo, and am highly recommending that tour if someone should visit.
