Review: 6-Day Masai Mara & Lakes Safari – Is it Worth It?
So, you’re considering a 6-day wildlife safari that hits Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru, and Lake Naivasha, right? Well, actually, this sounds like a fantastic trip to Kenya, and I want to share, like, a detailed rundown of what to expect, basically some potential highlights, and perhaps just a few things you might want to keep in your mind as you plan this, like, unforgettable adventure. My aim is that it gives you what you want, that you know what I mean. I’ve seen, heard and read lots about safaris, in fact, I’m keen to let you have it first hand to assist you.
The Allure of the Masai Mara
First off, the Masai Mara, very well known as one of Africa’s top spots for game viewing. Picture it: vast, open grasslands seemingly stretching as far as the eye can see, you know? It is very well known to have animals, like, everywhere! Wildebeest migrations usually pass this way – apparently one of the greatest natural spectacles on earth; that, in the opinion of others is worth it. The, what one might say are endless, plains serve as a home for lions, elephants, giraffes, cheetahs, and, obviously, a whole load of other creatures just living life. Now, the Mara is almost like a wildlife documentary brought to life.
We should also remember that early mornings and late afternoons offer the best light for photographers – very important for capturing great pictures of wildlife. Actually, animal activity is often at its peak during these times, so very consider including plenty of game drives during those magic hours.
Lake Nakuru: A Pink Flamingo Paradise
Lake Nakuru National Park, you see, is basically a total contrast to the Mara. More or less it is a soda lake known mainly for its masses of pink flamingos, you know? Very beautiful and breathtaking when they’re there. In a way it is important to note that their numbers do, actually, vary depending on conditions, still, it is highly regarded, like seeing a ‘pink lake’ is definitely something different! The park too, offers sanctuary to white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, and also some lions. These creatures adapt and have all the traits to be strong and carry their natural instincts.
Also Lake Nakuru, is more or less much smaller compared to the Masai Mara. Now, you could, typically, spend a fulfilling day game viewing there, that sounds promising doesn’t it? A little different for me, it brings its own unique charm and some superb photographic opportunities as I imagine.
Lake Naivasha: Serenity and Birdlife
Next up is Lake Naivasha. After all the intensity of game drives, it looks like a spot to recharge. It seems that freshwater lake is known very well for its serene atmosphere and, arguably, plentiful birdlife. So, in this situation taking a boat trip is seemingly the perfect way to watch the hippos wallowing in the water or, just a bit of searching on the shores and also spot different kinds of birds. That would please me. One could possibly add a visit to Crescent Island, arguably a privately owned game sanctuary, where we might just be able to wander among giraffes, zebras, and, yes, wildebeest as well! What do you think of that!
I was so shocked. When taking to fellow travellers of these safaris I kept hearing so many different and varied perspectives; its worth, arguably, hearing what fellow folk are thinking. I really think these 6-day tours provide really lovely access to diverse experiences, too! One way is spotting a wide range of landscapes and of course wildlife.
Choosing the Right Tour Operator and Accommodation
You might have to have an awareness when choosing your tour operator because it could actually have a pretty big effect on your experience, just a little bit you understand? I suggest, or hint, or would be pretty strong with some serious, extensive research to choose a, what might be a great, operator who has lots of local knowledge and is responsible for it too and I feel that this one is worth considering if they, seemingly, have a real concern towards the wildlife, almost you see, the operators who pay fairly to their workers also go further. It, in a way, could improve everybodies enjoyment for you and I in our environment in a, somewhat, more enjoyable day to day safari experience.
About lodging: this will vary enormously on budget. Apparently you could get camps in Masai Mara, that give you some stunning views from very far and have high standards for accommodation if that suites your wallet? Lodges near Lake Nakuru too seem to be good with nice spots in mind in what might be a peaceful experience for everyone as I think everyone needs.
What to Pack and Prepare For Your Safari
First and foremost; it is pretty essential, really, that we prepare! You need clothes that are great for outside use like light colors for a reason in order to help and protect yourselves in those environments we are soon to visit as that’s the case as this goes further. Like the long sleeved shirts and pants; yes, a need to keep mosquitos and bugs at bay, actually. A sunhat? Completely critical, almost as well as good sunscreen for, of course, skin protection in sunny days. The camera equipment, too: take your zoom lens for sure if you’re just a little like me, I like to, if able, capture shots of wildlife afar.
Don’t overlook the fact that things are just a little crucial in that some good binoculars can actually add another layer to, sort of, every wildlife encounter of one of a kind moments, actually. Keep those necessary vaccinations current for sure, especially, what with malaria which must always be on guard with such things. And one way, very much by being armed just a bit with basic Swahili phrases will truly be a very long way of endearing ourselves to locals as too in any location.
Maximizing Your Wildlife Viewing Opportunities
Listen up, some of the golden rules actually of wildlife watching are things just a bit necessary like waking up when, apparently, dawn breaks as that’s often to be the animals most active! Get a tour guide who just doesn’t only know what things are but actually shows genuine enthusiasm for the land too.
Have a, sort of, heightened degree of patience; be aware you’re really not going to make this trip happen! Every trip really does bring it’s experiences! Oh yes and take this to heart “Quiet anticipation” – that would improve one chance just a bit too. This would let nature come by in every direction and at anytime or time periods, too.
Responsible Travel and Conservation
I honestly want to say the eco impact does and shouldn’t affect people and it really isn’t. Support, by purchasing items that are crafted and constructed within Kenya by themselves! Please respect animal rights. Keep a safe distance and definitely don’t provoke the wild creatures!
If, somehow or other, involved with anything; in situations where animals’ environments, which they do very much need, and are involved then be so quick just a bit or so ever slightly to assist them! This has to be some degree, somehow something which just needs some work on still at what I mean. Also, every tiny action matters at that, right.
Is the 6-Day Safari Worth It?
You would wonder is that value equal to price that everyone can agree upon, I do get this just that tiny, slightly, or almost. So in short, to some extent in some areas a full week journey that takes into all elements! A huge Yes! For me the cost of that I would be considering something from one area to the other when on one of our safari trips on these long stretches of time, in one area just on a quick drive out to other sites, you know?
We get and learn of every element around these environments, the memories! We still remember, oh yes, there were experiences along the entire trip in different sites. It is just the matter as long one makes them what experiences they can and/or intend!
Tips to remember on your safari:
- Best light happens at suns up and at evenings; capture it and take lots of pictures at these golden times, always!
- Be on a mission; to always engage eco support on ethical tourism, if applicable and available at these sites too and take a step!
- Learn many terms as you might know on all levels that’s always nice when speaking their basic tongues or ways, almost always, which just goes well by, too!
So there you are then! Hopefully that gives people that will, could or might take this trip the, what can I say, like insights into what would happen or will on the tour as things pass by. I might be slightly wrong with this to come across so. To be real in every environment where people, which also, the animal habitat in this setting and place; with being mindful you never go off track and always listen because being very careful at these environments that it’s critical you don’t. If ever it all comes to it you will. Hopefully everything written gives all people to think before travelling the thoughts you may want!
The question does occur in whether it really can give something and this journey sounds amazing too, right. The wildlife, the lands with every adventure with animals, these things should exist too forever on what seems true. So that comes to all those involved just be respectful for what has. With every place and all who have, can and/or could share. Every single part where these journeys may or have happened I hope you get the vibe. This vibe has shown to others or myself which will show and show and what others say is; Kenya’s 6 days safari truly. It’s totally something in this world.
