Mycenae, Epidaurus & Nafplio Day Tour: A Traveler’s Review
Greece, you know, it’s a place absolutely loaded with history and seriously gorgeous landscapes, that’s for certain! Recently, I got the chance to check out the ‘Full Day Tour in Mycenae Epidaurus Nafplio,’ and wow, that actually was quite the experience. I thought I would pass along some thoughts, just to, in a way, maybe give you, or like your, some help if you’re thinking about checking this tour out too.
Setting off for the Peloponnese
The day, alright, it kicked off pretty early, I wanna say around 8:30 AM from Athens. You know, the pickup was fairly painless, too, and that’s always something that’s appreciated, as a matter of fact. That is that, the bus was actually fairly comfortable, pretty much, with air conditioning that was really needed, what with that Greek sun. It’s almost, just almost, like, three hours to Mycenae, yet that drive gives you a pretty good chance to see a little of the countryside and, as I was saying, like just grab some much-needed sleep.
Mycenae: Walking Among Ancient Kings
Mycenae, actually, that was the first stop, by the way. We rolled up, okay, and you can actually see why it’s such a pretty big deal. To be honest, these are the ruins of a place, of a city that used to be really powerful way back when, in like, ancient times, alright? You’ve got that seriously impressive Lion’s Gate that’s there, and there is that view is basically awesome, if I am being really frank with you.
I mean, just walking around, and so on, with our, like your, guide who honestly seemed to totally know a lot, too. He, actually, told us stories about Agamemnon, and, sort of, about the Trojan War. I, really, felt kind of transported back, I want to say, thousands of years. The Treasury of Atreus, and stuff, like, it is basically huge too. I would say that is well worth taking some pictures to show to your friend and relatives!
Epidaurus: Experiencing Ancient Healing and Theatre
After, as I was saying, Mycenae, now, alright, that was pretty impressive, yet Epidaurus, seriously, that’s next on the tour. It, in a way, houses an extremely old theatre, the Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus. Basically, I am gonna be very truthful and say, the acoustics, by the way, really did blow me away. I’ve seen some cool theaters, but nothing, very, you know, nearly as cool as this. Our guide, you know, he showed us something actually rather wild: even from way up in the very seats, and that kind of amazed me too, actually.
Like your, the Sanctuary of Asclepius there, as a matter of fact, actually gave some fascinating stories about that time too, and that history is all wrapped up with all things like medicine, I think. You, actually, are free to just wander around and take photos there and, really, feel that weight, and stuff, of all those centuries as well.
Nafplio: Charm by the Sea
That afternoon, next, right, we hit up Nafplio and I’m telling you now, okay, that, I’d say that is a different scene altogether. After the old ruins, and so on, all that history and, pretty much, Nafplio it is basically so attractive that, really, will you wanting to take your next photos. This city used to be, basically, the first capital of Greece way back then, and honestly it has such a feel that’s really like sophisticated. It actually had that atmosphere!
You, basically, get a bit, pretty much, of free time to walk and have lunch here in the same way too. I, by the way, chowed down some local grub at a restaurant looking over that, by the way, the sea. Check it out, really – strolling around the narrow streets, maybe check out Palamidi Fortress – that basically was super awesome. You can actually climb those steps for seriously great views too.
Food and Drink During the Tour
It is okay to consider grabbing a tasty snack along that way, that’s just pretty much that to be real. This, tour, it doesn’t actually cover meals, but you know, we actually got to swing by certain spots so as to, like your, quickly get stuff. I, personally, decided to, sort of, try some “koulouri” in Mycenae, and, actually, in Nafplio, right, I relaxed, really, in a quaint seaside cafe and also savored amazing seafood!
You should, by the way, ensure to, basically, keep yourself totally hydrated. Seriously, pack a, just just, whole lot, seriously – water bottles, absolutely essential. Plus, a few nibbles don’t actually hurt either; this kind of assists you so you don’t actually get way too peckish between stops, that really assists.
What You Need to Bring With
If, what with this trip being really loaded with, well, you know, quite the walking, what’s truly a must, as I was saying, are truly comfy shoes, actually, but of course. I mean it too. It will very, much help in seeing ancient ruins. And pack a bit, in a way, of sunblock and seriously that hat to keep sun off; really needed with the rays really reflecting hard when touring outdoors there that’s for real.
You, alright, might be, or, maybe want to check out a portable charger so your cellphone always does have some life left, just so it can, like your, keeps snapping photos too. You could, in the same way, want to consider small backpack so to bring any extra necessities as well there too.
Final Thoughts
Generally speaking, okay, doing that day tour truly was a blast and seriously packed that value that much too. You, too, may find it really makes visiting these historical destinations kind of less painful to cope, by letting some, kind of like your, totally experience them – it, truly, helped in that regard. Is that, really the mix of seriously ancient place that’s heavy loaded of stories from before, like really neat theatre, just nearly almost mind blowing vistas is, I feel, right, worth going thru all the cost needed, certainly, that early start! So you will actually want a great view to classic Greece, is what I am pointing to: absolutely give the Mycenae Epidaurus, Nafplio full day a whirl; in the long run, highly recommend!
