Booking one of these trips is mostly super simple. There seem to be like, a bunch of tour operators in Muscat offering Daymaniyat excursions. You could, maybe, check online. Compare, maybe, prices and what’s included, is that what you prefer? Sometimes, they actually offer different packages. Things like, maybe, pick-up from your hotel, snorkeling equipment, and of course, that BBQ lunch that gets promoted. Actually, it is worth reading the fine print. Too, some tours go to more crowded spots. Others promise smaller groups, that could be nicer, depending on your travel style. Anyway, I booked mine about a week in advance. It just felt right, you know?

The Boat Ride and First Impressions

So, the morning came, and off we went to the marina to, like, meet our boat. Usually, the boats people use for these trips are pretty decent-sized. They fit, say, fifteen to twenty people, depending on the operator, you know? Depending on the spot, and how many folks are around, really, you’ll probably see a crazy variety of fish. We, more or less, saw parrotfish, angelfish, and clownfish—that finding Nemo vibe, definitely! So, you also, if you are lucky, come across sea turtles grazing on the seagrass, a total thrill, in a way. In some respects, I noticed that the coral. Seemingly, is getting a little damaged in some areas, apparently. That makes me hope folks respect the reef and definitely, avoid touching anything. This place is delicate. So, maybe, let’s keep it that way for everyone to have pleasure in!

BBQ Lunch: Food with a View

Very much after a good couple of hours of snorkeling, right, it was time for the famous BBQ lunch. Actually, this depends quite a bit on the tour operator, okay. On my trip, anyway, the crew set up the BBQ on one of the islands’ beaches. The menu featured that usual grilled chicken, fish, kebabs, salad, and some rice. All of it was pretty good. I like this part, maybe, the best. It’s almost as if you get the world to stop around you! 6. Snacks and Extra Water: It’s likely, you’ll get thirsty. It is worth planning and be self sufficient, or otherwise, potentially, you’ll be reliant on others to assist you.

So, is the Daymaniyat Islands snorkeling trip worth it, I am asked? In other words, I would say “absolutely!” More or less, that snorkeling itself is amazing, as there is tons of sea life to view. Being on that idyllic BBQ is definitely one great perk. What you have to remember is, for some, the experience may differ based upon what operator and which month they select to tour the area. You probably understand it is, as I was saying, often busier on weekends and during peak season, okay. Is that fair?
