So, visiting the Madrid Royal Palace is, like, a totally must-do when you’re hanging out in Spain, and the thing is, figuring out the best way to actually see it can be, more or less, a bit tricky. Very big, loads to check out, you know? That, it seems, a guided tour—especially if it’s, sort of, a small group or, arguably, a private one—can really be just the thing to make the most of your visit. We actually went on one, and I’m going to share what we thought about it.

I mean, the Madrid Royal Palace is big, is that right, truly grand, filled to the brim with history, and, as a matter of fact, artwork that is pretty stunning. You could certainly just wander around on your own, yet you could, like, completely miss the really cool stuff. Guides tend to be, usually, pretty clued-up on all the stories behind the halls, tapestries, and paintings, that really makes the place come alive. Our Experience: A Deep Dive into the Palace

We chose a small group tour and honestly, just like, what a blast! From the very start, our guide made it so interesting, even for someone (me!) who doesn’t, in fact, typically go for history. That the guide had these great little stories, not found on the info boards, which genuinely hooked us. One, about a hidden door in one of the state rooms that’s, sort of, rumored to have been utilized for secret rendezvous – so fascinating! The pace felt really comfortable too; we actually had plenty of time to actually admire things, snap some photos (where that was actually allowed), and generally take it all in. The guide gave, in some respects, some seriously insightful thoughts to the collection, and was really great at answering our many questions.

What We Liked (and Didn’t Like So Much)

Alright, it’s almost pros and cons time. One thing we all really liked, actually was how organized the whole tour appeared to be. That the meeting point was actually easy to find, and the guide really had things sorted, that basically got us in without a lot of waiting. This seems like an advantage, especially thinking about the crowds. The guide seemed genuinely passionate; really great to come across. Something we didn’t care about so much actually, very honestly, was that photo stops were too brief. And, sometimes it seems, it would have been amazing to get just a little more time to take pics of, very, very detailed ceilings or interesting art objects. Actually a minor thing overall, not that major.

Making the Most of Your Royal Palace Tour

Right then, for really maximizing the visit to Madrid’s Royal Palace with a small group or a personalized journey, is that there are definitely some things you are able to keep in mind.
