Limeniskos Gramvousa & Balos Speedboat Tour Review: Is It Worth It?
Crete is very much a jewel of the Greek islands, that, you know, is known for its amazing history, stunning scenery, and those pristine beaches. So, the Gramvousa and Balos lagoon are like, two of its most talked-about destinations. Basically, there are many ways to see these spots, but this speedboat tour with drinks, by Limeniskos, now that looks like quite the experience. You get there faster, enjoy the crystal-clear waters, plus you have drinks. Arguably, it seems wonderful, right? The point of this is really to give you like, my take, without frills, to decide if this is definitely your kind of adventure.
First Impressions of the Speedboat Adventure
Initially, hopping on a speedboat that could whisk me away to Balos lagoon just sounded, in a way, super appealing. So, that whole promise of skipping those crowded ferries, and that long bus rides. It had me imagining myself just gliding over the water with the wind in my hair, pretty much, and soaking up those incredible views right away. Anyway, getting to Gramvousa and Balos faster, with this kind of, you know, exclusivity, very much seemed worth a few extra bucks. Honestly, the Limeniskos tour, it did sound, almost, a bit luxe. This really is just compared to doing it on your own, or on a regular tour boat.
Like your regular tour boat will be huge, and it’ll take longer. And it’ll feel like herding animals sometimes. This is definitely not a herding animals experience; they give you free drinks so it is rather quite the party.
Gramvousa Island: A Pirate’s Tale and Breathtaking Views
Gramvousa, often, has an awesome mix of, kind of, old history and those picture-postcard looks. By the way, when you reach it, the first thing you notice is like, the Venetian fortress way up high. So, the hike up there, alright, I’ll be straight with you, that tends to be challenging. Particularly, if you are visiting in that really hot summer sun, I will be clear though, so that view, oh my goodness. That almost makes it worth every step. That view, I mean wow, wow, wow, that’s really quite awesome. As I was saying, once you look over, and the island drops, then the sea explodes in colours, its actually gorgeous. Then there are the cliffs.
As a matter of fact, you get that, you know, panoramic view of that stunning coastline, right? In some respects, it feels as if you’ve been like, thrown back in time. The island did used to be, a pirate hideout way back when, which is just amazing. That atmosphere, coupled with that unbeatable natural beauty, well, that’s amazing. Spending time on Gramvousa is, well that’s a moment I won’t soon forget, right?
Balos Lagoon: Paradise Found
Balos Lagoon, for many people, might be like, the star of the show, that. By the way, it’s one of those places that just looks too perfect to actually exist. Frankly, when you look over to that shallow, turquoise water. And that super fine white sand that’s nearly pink. That sight does kinda make you feel like you have just, seemingly, stepped into some dream, sort of. We walked across that sandbar to reach that warmer water. And it just felt like walking on clouds, you know?
The water really is, almost, crystal clear, very. So, the colours? The lagoon is like, they are something you definitely have to see to believe. We took like, a dip, just enjoyed the view, that. Balos is a real slice of paradise. That place makes you feel totally chilled, actually, alright?
The Speedboat Experience: Is it all that?
Okay, so, the speedboat portion, so that was just what, anyway, set this trip apart. So, that ride was awesome, alright. We skipped past the huge crowds, that’s wonderful. As well as avoiding the long, that windy roads, alright. Very important. By the way, the speedboat itself now, it’s kinda small. But also very zippy, just perfect for zipping across that water. You can sit in the sun or under a canvas roof thing to have shade, right.
Now, I guess, if you have any mobility problems, going in and out of these little boats can be problematic. Anyway, it was very efficient, and it had a smooth ride to the islands, alright. You didn’t feel cramped. You could move about a little, get different angles of the seascapes. On a smaller boat it’s always that thing: some shade or all sun. That speedboat part, that almost made the whole tour feel like an actual treat, alright. With music, great people.
Drinks and Amenities
They say the tour has drinks? Of course, this does vary by provider. It depends on how many passengers you have and if someone calls in sick, too. And it’s the law over there as well as the wind speeds and waves. But mostly you’ll get served local spirits, wine and some juice. Plus, very cold bottles of water, too. What really stands out is the attentiveness of those staff, too. The music really set the scene, I mean, like party music on deck! That makes it feel really upbeat, right?
The overall atmosphere does mean you can easily make friends with that group. In a way it has some social elements. Those speedboat tours of Gramvousa and Balos? That usually includes, too, very quick access to those bathrooms onboard, alright. Just so very convenient.
Is the Limeniskos Gramvousa and Balos Speedboat Tour Worth It?
After this trip, honestly, I felt that, yes, arguably it’s worth the extra spend, alright. Skipping the long ferry lines and bus trips really did enhance that whole experience, didn’t it? In some respects, having like, more time at each location is just fantastic, very, alright. You avoid getting like, travel-weary, or spending too much time in transit, alright.
Okay, there might be cheaper ways to get to Gramvousa and Balos, very. If time, though, and convenience have meaning for you. If comfort factors in, this speedboat tour really hits every spot. By the way, that personal touch, too, does set it apart from those larger, that standard tours. By the way, for anyone hoping to see the beauty of Gramvousa and Balos, like, without all those crowds, this Limeniskos tour? That is a really, really awesome option.
Some advice on the day itself
If you book in to this kind of tour, take it. On the day you have it book be ready a bit early as these do set off promptly. Most importantly, take a bag with you of bare necessities like travel size suntan cream, towel and something to drink! In short, there is very little more you might want.
