Kissamos Private Sunset Catamaran Cruise Review: Is It Worth It?
Crete is an island which seems to have endless ways of dazzling you, and its sunsets? Seriously magical. Recently, a sunset catamaran cruise from Kissamos caught my eye, and I thought, “You know what? I should check this out.” So, that’s just what I did. This review? Well, it’s all about my personal experience and whether I thought the whole thing really gave value for money. Get ready, ‘cause here it comes: a proper look at the Kissamos Private Sunset Catamaran Cruise with Snacks.
Setting Sail into the Sunset
Right, let’s talk about what it felt like setting off. First off, Kissamos is rather a gem, offering an authentic slice of Crete. It’s not quite as hyped as other spots, so it’s got a very relaxed feel to it. The marina, where the cruise starts, it’s almost a buzz with excitement, you know? Everyone there seems really eager to get going.
The catamaran itself, it tended to look pretty swish, and it appeared that it was really well-maintained. The crew were genuinely welcoming too it seemed; they seemed to make everyone feel comfortable right away. Once we set sail, the views just began to open up. The coastline, it’s just rugged and dramatic, and you sort of get a totally different view from the water, like your seeing things from another angle you know?
There’s something very magical, actually, about being on a boat as the sun starts dipping. The breeze, the gentle rocking of the catamaran, all while taking in the scenic views, all that? Well, that really gets you in the mood. So, first impressions? Super strong, it seemed.
What’s Onboard: Comfort and Amenities
Okay, comfort, it’s often crucial, especially when you’re planning on spending a few hours on the water, isn’t it? The catamaran, very, very pleasingly, didn’t disappoint. There’s heaps of space to lounge about, so you could properly stretch out and relax, just, like, horizontal, in fact.
The seating area was also rather clean and well-kept, and there was a shaded spot too, which is obviously a godsend if you happen to burn easily, you know? There was a toilet on board, and, trust me, that’s a fairly important detail when you’re out on the water for hours! They seemed to have thought of just about everything, it seemed. All in all, it just created a really pleasurable atmosphere, which made the whole experience all the better, as you might expect.
The Food: A Taste of Crete
Right, let’s get to one of my fairly favorite subjects: food! This cruise, pleasingly, wasn’t just about the views; they put on a pretty good spread too. You got a selection of local snacks that provided you with a real taste of Crete, you see.
The snacks, it seemed, included things, very typically, like dakos (that’s a barley rusk topped with tomatoes and cheese), olives (always a winner), and some rather tasty local cheeses. There were also some fresh fruits to nibble on, which, you know, felt very refreshing. Drinks-wise, there was water, soft drinks, and, arguably best of all, local , very Cretan, and delicious, if I say so myself, wine. So, the snacks? Certainly adequate, if you like a proper taste of local flavors, like your being there!
Sunset Views and Photo Opportunities
Of course, the main draw here? That very gorgeous sunset, very predictably! And honestly? It seriously lived up to all expectations, it did! Watching the sun slowly dip below the horizon while you are out on the water? Genuinely breathtaking, actually.
The sky, so it turned all sorts of very warm shades, from orange to pink to purple, you know? It just reflected beautifully on the sea. I got some amazing photos, too; you’ll definitely want to bring your camera! I’m telling you! It’s also the sort of experience, it’s almost the one where you forget all about taking photos and really take it all in. Seriously, it’s hard not to feel grateful and happy just to be there, when your in that sort of magical moment.
The Crew: Service and Hospitality
Right, I must also say a word about the crew because they made a very real difference to the whole experience. From the moment I got on board, they were all super helpful and friendly, as it seemed. They made a big effort, that, is what I would say, to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable.
They were happy to answer any questions, as you might expect, and they were just generally really attentive. They seemed very professional, and, basically, they obviously knew their stuff. It’s the crew which are genuinely good who really make an experience special, you know? And this crew certainly fit that bill; they certainly raised the bar and surpassed all my expectations in every possible area.
Value for Money: Is It Worth the Cost?
Now, let’s discuss what everyone really wants to know: Was the Kissamos Private Sunset Catamaran Cruise worth the cost? Look, it’s true that it might not be the cheapest thing you can do in Crete. Very understandably, if your on a budget, like your backpacking or something, then perhaps this is a difficult decision for you. However, when you think about what you’re actually getting – a pretty exclusive experience, amazing views, delictable local snacks, wine, and just attentive service – then, in my view, it feels pretty reasonable.
If you would love to spoil someone, you know? Like a treat for a partner, or like celebrating a very special occasion, then I definitely believe this cruise ticks all the right boxes. It’s also worth remembering that it is a “private” cruise, which does mean, in reality, that you have that additional space and the exclusivity, and all those additional comforts make a big difference.
At the end of the day, what you spend your money on is obviously a personal thing. Though, based on my own experience, I would totally say that this cruise offered just incredible value for what you get, I would thoroughly and highly recommend.
In a nutshell, here’s the lowdown:
- Amazing sunset views that are just beyond words.
- Great service from a very thoughtful and very attentive crew.
- Mouth-watering local snacks, plus drinks.
- Generally a super memorable experience that’s worth splashing out on if you’re after something super special.
So that’s my story and honest experiences of the Kissamos Private Sunset Catamaran Cruise. You could book a sunset trip to remember for good and discover a more authentic side to Crete; you wont regret this trip!
