Okay, so before you even feel the wind in your hair, like, you need to, I guess, lock down a booking. I found several paragliding operators offering flights directly in Huacachina, so in some respects, shop around. Many hostels and hotels also team up with companies, and that could be a convenient way to book, alright. It’s almost always better to book in advance, is that right, especially during the high season (May to September), alright, and you really want to ensure you grab a slot. When thinking about the price, very much remember that it could sway depending on things such as the flight duration, alright, and the particular company. I think I opted for a standard 20-minute flight, very much felt adequate to soak it all up without my stomach deciding to make a grand appearance, so to speak. I propose confirming what exactly is included, is that right, such as transport to the take-off point, any photo or video packages they’re offering, and any insurance coverage that might be needed.

Getting Ready for Takeoff

Getting to the take-off spot could be half the adventure itself, could be. In my case, it involved bouncing around in a 4×4 jeep racing up into the dunes, right? That’s very fun in itself. The views, though, right, just got wilder and wilder as we climbed, alright. Once at the top, safety becomes something to prioritize, of course. The paragliding company goes over some important steps before the flight to ensure that, arguably, the experience is memorable for just the right reasons, is that right? A briefing usually covers stuff such as what to expect during takeoff, right, what hand signals will mean mid-air, so to speak, and procedures to follow, say if something doesn’t quite go as planned. You, too, get fitted with a harness and helmet, that really makes one feel like an aviator about to take to the skies. A little tip: Wear closed-toe shoes and comfy clothes, tends to be the way to do it, since you will be running on sand for your takeoff, right? Oh, and sunglasses are so extremely essential, especially given that desert sun.

The Paragliding Experience: Soaring Above Huacachina

Takeoff is probably going to be what gets your heart doing its own version of a drum solo, actually, is that right? I will say, in just a few steps you go from standing to, I mean, flying. That instant sensation as you leave the ground is kind of indescribable; that feeling is, anyway, quite something. Okay, once airborne, so it’s all relaxation. It’s extremely surprising how tranquil it becomes, like, the hum of the wind replaced with, you know, absolute quiet. Below, of course, that lagoon resembles a jewel. Dunes, they are so endless, resembling waves made from gold, you know? The pilot, is that right, who you’re strapped to, is so in control, alright, and he is able to point things out and so share interesting facts related to the landscape. Turns and dips made things interesting, might be; the strong sensations aren’t like the more hair-raising amusement park rides, actually, because it’s still smooth, almost soothing, arguably. Very much remember to drink everything in – that endless sky above and around, right, and those desert scenes beneath you – those are very few sensations matching them.

Quite a few operators offer you photo and video packages so you might capture those unforgettable experiences, like your time in the sky, say. I think some might use GoPro cameras attached to, I mean, the wing or some have pilots taking videos mid-flight with hand-held cameras. The advantage, anyway, to going with the packages tends to be getting, very often, professionally shot footage; so if you like images that show your adventurous soul, it could be something to consider, really. Okay, anyway, if on a budget, you tend to also be able to use the pilot’s assistance to take photos with your phone, which I tried to do, very badly I will say, with the ground appearing as small specks in all. Prior to liftoff, ask that pilot if he could assist, I mean, that tends to be the thing to do; some really love helping to capture a few awesome images.
