Hanoi La Spa Massage: Honest Review (60 Minutes of Bliss?)

So, you’re wandering around Hanoi, maybe after a long day of exploring the Old Quarter or indulging in some delicious street food. You, perhaps, find yourself thinking, “Man, I need a massage!” Then, La Spa might just pop up as a good option. That’s totally what happened to me recently, anyway. I opted for their 60-minute body massage with oil, and I figured I would, perhaps, give you all the lowdown to help you make your choice. Here’s a slightly real look at my experience.

First Impressions: Ambiance and Welcome

Hanoi La Spa Reception

Alright, let’s kick this off with the feel of the place when you walk in. It’s, it’s more or less, what you’d anticipate from a spa looking to be of a higher level in a tourist hot spot. The reception area is rather inviting, usually kept reasonably clean and dim with some calming aromas floating about, if that’s something that matters to you. The staff appeared polite, if that’s a criteria, greeting me with smiles and swiftly getting through the check-in thing. However, I felt a slight lack of genuine warmth that you’d, you know, expect. Maybe they’ve said, “hello,” a hundred times before noon, maybe not; they seemed, perhaps, professional more than inviting, which is OK, but just something I noticed.

The Massage Experience: Technique and Pressure

body massage

So, we get into the heart of the matter: the massage itself. Now, my masseuse was alright. They used a bunch of classic massage techniques, with some strokes that felt great on my tired muscles and other strokes that felt… well, kind of there, but, you know, nothing crazy. The pressure was, somewhat, a bit all over the place. I asked for medium pressure, and sometimes it felt exactly that, and other times it felt a little light, or slightly heavier, too. If you’re not shy, make sure you speak up right away, that’s always my motto anyway.

The oil they used had a really delicate, floral fragrance. Though, if you’re extremely sensitive to scents, is that maybe something to consider asking about ahead of time. Overall, I would describe the actual massage part as satisfactory. Like, did I float out of there completely stress-free? Maybe not. But did it offer some relief from my aching travel body? More or less, it did.

Cleanliness and Comfort: What to Expect

spa cleanliness

Let’s talk a little more about cleanliness, right? This is something that’s rather important, I feel. The massage room appeared reasonably tidy. Though, it lacked a super spotless feel – is that possibly because the place is just used a lot? The massage bed was, well, relatively comfy, and they used fresh towels. The noise level was moderate. You, literally, hear some street noise seeping in, which is understandable since it’s in a lively part of town; however, that might pull you away from the chill experience, is what I noticed.

Value for Money: Is La Spa Worth It?

value for money

The big question: Should you drop your cash at La Spa for this 60-minute massage? The rate is, somewhat, competitive, positioning it right in the middle compared to similar locations. Thinking of the massage I experienced, it was OK, but nothing especially remarkable that made me feel “Wow!”. In case you are truly looking to ball on a budget, you might actually get almost similar services somewhere else for just a bit cheaper, you know. Nevertheless, in the event you place a great amount of importance on having a somewhat nicer spot than some small establishment and want a fairly secure option, La Spa probably is satisfactory.
