Geneva Street Art Tour Review: See Art Differently
If you’re planning a trip to Geneva and are hoping for something other than the usual tourist hotspots, then you might think about giving the Geneva Street Art Tour a chance, is that so? I went along on one such recent wander around to find out what exactly you can expect, just how cool the artwork truly can be, and essentially, if it’s actually something that might tickle your fancy too.
First Impressions and Setting the Scene
Meeting up for the tour is quite a simple thing; it’s usually in a place that’s pretty central, meaning you can’t really miss it too much. So, standing there waiting, it wasn’t really clear exactly who else was joining, yet eventually a person rocked up who totally looked like the type to know a thing or two concerning hidden street art, too it’s almost as if you can smell the artistic essence, or whatever, as I was saying?
Right from jump street, what became clear is that this isn’t some really, very dry lecture. Nope, very soon it felt more that the guide was more into bringing you in to a side of Geneva a bit off the main drag. Like, think less stuffy museum and way more raw city vibe, really.
Discovering Hidden Art Gems
Right then, as we started traipsing around, I was almost struck immediately by how much cool art was, like, right under your nose without most people realizing. We’re talking art down unassuming alleys and worked into building sides. So, the guide, it turns out, knew basically all of the artists and, of course, the story about each and every piece, right?
One of the standout bits had to be a gigantic mural. It sounds like it had a genuinely political message, anyway it was very interesting to get every insight into what the artist hoped to say, too it’s almost like learning secret languages of the city.
The Guide’s Knowledge and Passion
That really, very important ingredient of this Geneva Street Art Tour really has to be the person at the point. This really isn’t just anyone waving a flag; this individual sounds like they live and breathe Geneva street art, you know? So, hearing them rattle on with real enthusiasm, linking different artists’ works to the bigger movement as a whole – wowzers! You know what I mean?
You might find your attention focused on this: you could just walk ’round snapping shots of artwork, or what?, still, having somebody there that has real knowledge gives you that much better of an experience. Basically, it went above merely viewing pretty images to getting all the stories behind it all.
Interacting with the Art and the City
What became pretty clear, as I was saying, is this tour isn’t one bit a “look but absolutely do not touch” kind of vibe. Actually, it’s so encouraged you kinda get up really close to everything, snap photos and actually involve oneself through looking carefully into small stuff which ordinarily gets overlooked, or whatever, isn’t it?
Rather nicely, that experience takes on something really, very different when viewed together with this group. Not only do you get trading of thoughts along the way; just talking alongside other art fans is pretty interesting on its own!
Who Would Love This Tour?
So, who’s this tour really for, then? Actually, I reckon those who enjoy anything at all that’s visually intriguing or generally hoping they can experience Geneva differently than just doing standard tours should give it a shot, you know? And when it’s likely even teenagers won’t find it tiring – mainly when there’s lots of cool walls getting Instagrammed during – then that counts big, right?
That is to say, you don’t have be some learned art expert either. If the thought getting into the hidden heartbeat amongst Geneva appears remotely interesting, chances is you’ll like precisely how the guys handle things here.
