Electric Bike Tour Review: Benidorm, La Cala, Villajoyosa
Thinking of seeing the sights around Benidorm, La Cala, and Villajoyosa without all the legwork? A guided electric bike tour could be just the ticket! I’m very keen to talk about my experience hitting the road, or rather, the bike path, with one of these tours, and I want to give you the lowdown on what to expect, alright?
First Impressions: Gearing Up for Adventure
Okay, first things first. Starting off, signing up was pretty easy, actually. I found a tour online, and I booked it a few days ahead. The meeting spot in Benidorm was also super easy to find, which is always a good thing, isn’t it? Arriving there, I saw a bunch of shiny e-bikes lined up, that looked ready to roll. So far, very good!
The Bikes Themselves: A Smooth Ride?
The electric bikes very much deserve a shout-out because they can really make or break the experience. And, for me, they created it! The bikes given were in top condition, appearing nearly new. After a speedy safety talk and a briefing on how to use the electric assist (seriously, it’s as easy as pie), I hopped on. I should point out that zooming uphill without breaking a sweat? That alone, like, is worth the cost of the tour.
Benidorm: Beyond the Beach
Obviously, Benidorm has, you know, amazing beaches, but this tour got me, actually, to see so much more. We pedaled through the Old Town, finding cute, little squares and getting a taste of the area’s history. Now, riding an e-bike, too, gives you ample chance to soak up the atmosphere, and there’s definitely no struggling on any slopes, or any of that. It’s basically sightseeing in comfort.
La Cala: Coastal Charms and Hidden Gems
La Cala was quite lovely, yet different from Benidorm. The vibe was more chilled and the landscape got a little more rugged. The tour went along some sweet coastal paths, alright, so I was staring out at the sparkling Mediterranean most of the time, or rather, I suppose, whenever I wasn’t watching the path. You’ll find some wonderful, smaller beaches along this part of the coast. Pack a swimsuit and you might find the chance of a sneaky dip, basically!
Villajoyosa: A Riot of Color
Oh, Villajoyosa – the town is bursting with brightly painted houses. This was possibly the most beautiful place on the tour. Our leader, of course, shared the local stories of the town’s history (something about sailors painting their homes bright shades to spot them from the sea!), that was something you will recall. After taking loads of photos, of course, we parked up the bikes and strolled the promenade. Also, you should maybe consider treating yourself with some of the town’s famous chocolate, just a thought!
The Guide: Knowledgeable and Engaging?
So, very important thing to know, the tour guide can have a huge effect on your enjoyment. Our guy was very friendly and spoke so much English, as well as other languages I think, that it was really reassuring for an international group. Anyway, he knew the area very well, so, he was, very good, at sharing historical facts, and some local tips, plus the odd joke. Also, it was so obvious that he cared that everyone had fun and felt secure throughout. That’s a massive plus.
What to Bring (and What to Leave Behind)
Ok, so thinking about what to bring, or not. It’s warm in Spain, quite hot actually! Don’t be forgetful like I was. Sunscreen. Wear lots of it! Even on a cloudy day. And, of course, take Sunglasses, too, for obvious reasons! A bottle of water is essential, mostly to sip away whilst stopping at sights! A small rucksack or backpack, for carrying personal things and your bottle of water.
Is This Tour For You? Considering Fitness Levels
If you are like you that isn’t up for some mad bike race then no problem at all! Just so you are happy to sit, stand, pedal and watch the sights pass you by, then all good. All people that booked on were able to, so basically this should suit most. Electric bikes actually do their best work making any inclines seem really insignificant and any fitness limitations are usually accommodated with no problem, right? And there are enough breaks that make it quite the social jaunt as anything too strenious. But, this will be down to the riders ability!
Final Verdict: Was it Worthwhile?
Was this tour really amazing? You know what? Yes. Getting to see Benidorm, La Cala, and Villajoyosa, you know, in this way, that felt relaxed and it covered so much more ground than I, otherwise, would have by walking, obviously. So too, I really would very happily recommend it for those wanting to see these locations through an engaging activity! Anyone giving it a whirl won’t be feeling all that disappointed I tell ya.
