East Bali Trip: Besakih, Kintamani & Tirta Empul – A Real Look
East Bali. It is almost a place filled with cultural wonders and stunning landscapes, beckoning travelers seeking something that is more than just the typical beach vacation. A day trip hitting Besakih Temple, Kintamani, Mount Batur, also Tirta Empul can sound amazing. I mean, it does sound pretty cool, so let’s see what it’s all about, yeah?
Besakih Temple: Mother Temple Exploration
So, Besakih Temple, recognized as Bali’s Mother Temple, is that place on the slopes of Mount Agung. It is actually made up of not one, but a collection of temples. The setting alone, against the backdrop of the volcano, makes the views pretty incredible. It is a bit of a tourist hotspot, it’s usually buzzing with activity, which, of course, it kind of takes away from that peaceful vibe you might imagine. One tip: you will almost certainly be approached by local guides. Getting one can be worth considering, or I mean, maybe not. I will get to that, for sure. The clothes to wear should be something respectful because it’s a religious place. If you’re not dressed the right way, they’ll give you a sash and a sarong to put on.
The Upside of Hiring a Besakih Guide – Maybe
Okay, about those guides at Besakih. It’s almost tempting, is that right? A local guide can tell stories and give details you might not find if you are walking around all by yourself. That said, it’s almost a gamble. Some are fantastic, really teaching you a lot, while others may only be after your money, pressuring you for tips, that kind of thing. I mean, if you decide to go with a guide, decide what the price is beforehand and make sure that you and they both understand, you know?
Kintamani & Mount Batur: Volcanic Views and Lunch with a View
Going on from the temple, you head to Kintamani. This spot, pretty well-known for its view of Mount Batur, that’s what they say, I mean, it does sound scenic. It is almost popular to grab lunch at one of the restaurants there. That, of course, means you can look out over the volcano and the lake. Now, full disclosure: Some say it’s breathtaking, and some say the food isn’t so impressive, or that the prices may be a bit much considering the food quality. The view? I mean, the view tends to be amazing. Maybe it depends on if it’s a cloudy day. You pay for that scenery a bit, that is right.
Tirta Empul Temple: A Spiritual Cleansing
Tirta Empul Temple is almost your next stop, where you will get a chance to experience a Melukat purification ritual. Here, you get into the spring water, under different spouts, each there to wash away different bad vibes. So, that is kind of nice, actually. Balinese locals come here for spiritual cleansing too, very. Keep in mind, the place can get pretty crowded, and it is very important to keep that respectful vibe here, same as in Besakih. In that case, think about bringing a change of clothes, too, since, that, is right, you’re getting in the water.
Is the East Bali Trip Worth It?
So, should you actually do this East Bali tour? I mean, if seeing those key spots is what you’re after and if you’re good with a bit of a touristy experience, sure. Now, think about that it involves a lot of driving, so, that’s right, you will spend hours in a car. If what you’re wanting is that, very, deeply cultural, quiet experience, very, this packed day trip might not be the perfect fit. In short, go knowing that some parts, that’s right, are super touristy, plan, and you’ll, pretty much, have a better time.
- Besakih Temple: Impressive, still crowded. Think about if you would like a local guide, too.
- Kintamani: The views are beautiful, maybe just do not expect too much from the restaurant itself.
- Tirta Empul: Take part in the purification thing, just brace yourself for crowds, it seems.
- Overall: Really? If you only have limited time and wanna see those spots, why not? Be ready for touristy vibes, anyway.
