Dubai Marina Cruise: Sunset & Dinner Review (2024)
Are you currently trying to make up your mind about treating yourself to a Dubai Marina cruise? Like, the one with the sunset, dinner, and, oh yeah, that open bar everyone chats about? Well, it’s almost a “must-do” when you’re hitting up Dubai, so I thought I’d just scribble down what I made of the experience. My aim? It’s actually pretty simple – I want to help you decide whether parting with your cash for this cruise is truly something *you* want to do. Is the grub top-notch? Do you, like your photos, actually get amazing sunset views? Is that open bar genuinely…open? I’ll tell you all about my trip and try to help you figure out if this experience is a hit or a miss for folks similar to you.
What’s the Big Deal with Dubai Marina Cruises?
So, first things first. You’re probably thinking, why a cruise, right? Actually, Dubai Marina cruises are something special. This area, well it’s a visual feast. Shiny buildings seem to punch at the sky. There is the shimmering water that acts like a spotlight, reflecting everything at night. It feels as though it is custom-made for something like a relaxing evening sail. Cruises offer you, perhaps in a unique way, panoramic views that you just don’t get when you are stuck on solid ground. More or less, think of them as floating restaurants that give you amazing views. Throw in the prospect of dinner, and maybe a drink or two (or several!), and you might see the attraction.
Setting Sail: What to Expect
Anyway, my cruise shoved off at about sunset. It really does depend on what time of year you are kicking about over there. But that’s a minor thing, alright? After all, sunset’s always roughly the same time, right? First impressions are really quite good. Usually you’re talking about a traditionally shaped dhow, or even just a fancy glass catamaran. It just kinda sits there in the marina like a proper celebrity. Then it’s onto introductions. It all begins when someone offers you a drink the minute you step onboard (which, in this heat, is always a very, very welcome development). Seating can tend to be a free-for-all (try to grab something towards the edge for top-tier viewing). Then the fun part begins, or arguably so! As the vessel peels away from the dock, that’s the cue for whipping out your camera.
Sunset Spectacle and Photo Ops
Okay, that sunset! Honestly, pictures just don’t capture how mind-blowing it can look. So, when I say the Dubai skyline starts to glow that shade of, like, soft gold, I am being completely fair. Actually, that’s really just the starter to the whole spectacle. In some respects, as you are getting further out, you can almost see places, like the Burj Al Arab far away. I mean, that is a pretty special sort of view, right? Basically, this cruise provides fantastic selfie-fodder – your social media followers are surely going to be envious!
Dinner is Served: What’s on the Menu?
So, let’s get talking about dinner! The type of feast you get often tends to depend on the tour provider. But nearly every tour goes with that trusty old buffet option, I find. More or less, you’ll find salads (the usual suspects) which provide that cold bite when the temp is so very, very hot. Then we get onto grilled meats. Often this includes chicken and fish. The dishes are often just fine! Yet, in saying that, you will soon discover the taste reflects that it has been mass produced. Deserts might, potentially, consist of little cakes and fruit. They are probably alright! A top tip is don’t anticipate, perhaps, some five-star restaurant-grade fare, that’s for sure.
Drinks Ahoy! The Open Bar Examined
Right then, that “open bar.” We, just like many others, probably feel like that’s usually a huge selling point, I would imagine. Just so you understand though, don’t assume that’s unlimited Moet, okay? The reality tends to be something akin to this; It’s usually your basic house spirits (vodka, whiskey, gin). You have your generic beers and sodas, okay? Do you want something fancy? That means there will probably be a surcharge. Nevertheless, for many, access to bottomless gin and tonics with those gorgeous views amounts to good value. More or less, take it as ‘all-you-can-drink-basics’ and you probably won’t be disillusioned.
Entertainment Onboard
So, to add that dash of something, a great deal of these cruises will include a little bit of entertainment too. Just so you know, the Tannoura dance, arguably one of the most interesting sights of all, is generally quite amazing to see live. A dancer wearing a very colorful skirt starts spinning like crazy (honestly, for a considerable amount of time without pausing!) – often mesmerizing viewers in attendance! Many dhows or cruise boats feature just fairly ‘easy listening’ tunes. This creates, very often, that pretty backdrop while dining or just chilling with your buddies. Still, don’t expect some crazy kind of rock show, okay?
The Route: Dubai Marina and Beyond
Anyway, the path taken normally winds along the full stretch of Dubai Marina. This gives passengers ample views of the skyscrapers towering overhead. And do you know what? Sometimes these things include glimpses over to the Palm Jumeirah plus, perhaps, the World Islands. Basically, this will depend to some degree on how long the particular cruise that you selected runs. It goes without saying; cruising at night just brings out a new charm. That’s probably due to how literally *everything* starts sparkling.
Who’s this Cruise Ideal For?
So, who would most likely like something like this? More or less, it’s really great for couples searching to add in that little bit of spark to their trip, that is, a romantic bite to eat beneath all of those twinkling lights. Actually, small groups of pals will, similarly, usually discover a great deal of entertainment and delight out of everything this experience provides! Basically, it doesn’t tend to go over greatly with really tiny children, basically because keeping them entertained might become just that little bit more tricky. Actually, it probably isn’t suited perfectly to super-budget backpackers. The reason being that the cost may often stretch beyond your daily allowance. So, this should also appeal significantly for someone looking for something calm instead of hard, mad partying, I believe.
Value for Money? Weighing up the Costs
Right then, how about costs? You need to weigh these things up carefully to figure out that value component, I believe. Arguably, prices may start at roughly AED 200 (about $55 USD). This is probably based on all the current exchange rates; then those expenses might possibly ascend right up to AED 500 (almost $135 USD) based on just what’s encompassed. So, figure this: What are the advantages and disadvantages here? You have dinner, then the drinks. Arguably, what seals that deal are *all those views*. Therefore, is paying less possible to have an equal view anywhere? Probably not. To be fair, a boat brings this extra sense of cool you cannot experience on the shore! Is that sunset shot going to go viral? Okay, probably it will!
Making the Booking: Tips and Tricks
Okay, ready to reserve a spot? Remember these hints prior to clicking “book”. Okay, book ahead of schedule – this keeps you far from leaving everything till last minute, especially throughout the peak visitor seasons! Try different travel blogs – often these give discount coupons that can slash those expenses! Check the fine points, as it sounds incredibly obvious, that is! Scrutinize things like “how long that cruise is”, plus exactly what that “open bar” includes. Lastly, confirm the starting spot early in the daytime – then you can steer clear of almost any final minute issues while traveling there! Basically, make it stress-free to ensure complete enjoyment.
A Few Possible Downsides
Nevertheless, it certainly is not absolutely perfect for *all* passengers. One probably should anticipate, to some degree, those buffets getting overly crowded, okay? Just so you realize, there will likely be that touristy vibe. More or less, it could do with just some ‘tuning down’ from some parties, to be honest with you. Very well, perhaps occasionally expect disruption caused by children getting just somewhat uninterested while onboard (you may also hear them whinge a bit if hungry!) – very understandable for little children wanting stimulation, very probably. Yet those insignificant small gripes that aside, quite possibly one can definitely have the moment of one’s whole lives while doing it!
Is it Worth It? My Honest Opinion
So then…final thoughts! Must you really commit, eventually, in purchasing all of it for *your* journey list there? Right, with those vistas to treasure forever, dinner that is just alright at most (we’ll accept we’re on water to eat them). The entertainment that seems genuinely pleasant, and obviously infinite alcohol? Then maybe yeah! *As long as* those expectations align (we did discuss that detail much previously!) using reality rather meticulously – that thing has an amazing selling point right down it there for sure! Really though people remember the moments/locations probably instead any solitary dinner alone regardless how wonderful. Therefore book on currently now (enjoy cruising).
