Da Nang: Beach Bliss and City Buzz

First up, there’s Da Nang, which is this city that’s got, very, very beautiful beaches running alongside, what it seems, a rapidly developing urban scene. My Khe Beach? Basically, it’s postcard material, you know? The sand feels wonderful between your toes and you can take a refreshing dip into the warm, South China Sea. Typically, in the mornings, you will spot locals doing tai chi, which seems incredibly calming and might be a cool thing to try if you get up early enough.

Anyway, besides the beach, Da Nang itself seems to have this buzzing feel that is so…Vietnam. You are getting new high-rises popping up next to, apparently, ancient temples, so too it is a city that is seriously keeping one foot in the past while very much stepping into the future. Honestly, you are going to want to take some time exploring the city streets; apparently, just wander around and check out some street food, since it might just be some of the best, you know, you’ve had. By the way, Banh Mi, which might just be the sandwich to end all sandwiches, apparently is an actual must.

Also, do you like bridges? Just a little? Da Nang seems to have some cool ones. Dragon Bridge actually breathes fire on weekends! Can you even imagine that? Plus, the Han River Bridge seems to be spinning on its axis sometimes in the evenings, and really is the type of thing that can be just the thing to keep your eyes glued. Seemingly, these sights may sound like something out of a theme park but they very much appear real life and feel like something really, truly special.

Monkey Mountain (Son Tra Peninsula): Views and Legends

Now, just a bit out of Da Nang sits Monkey Mountain, or the Son Tra Peninsula. So, you get ready for views, alright? So, apparently, this place sticks out over the sea, which sort of means you are getting some truly stunning sights that stretch out, basically, all over the coastline. Seems really special, isn’t it?

Of course, it has the name “Monkey” for a reason; that is, there tend to be monkeys all over the place. Remember that you should keep a really close eye on your belongings, and don’t go feeding them. Actually, it messes with their wild behavior a lot and it is much better to appreciate them from a distance anyway, as a matter of fact.

Too, on Monkey Mountain is Linh Ung Pagoda. Now, alright, this is no ordinary temple. I mean, just make sure that what you are picking really is authentic and so haggle respectfully; that is, supporting the local community, as a matter of fact, is a good thing.

Hoi An: Ancient Town Charm

Now, get yourself ready to travel to Hoi An; more or less, this town is one you won’t soon be forgetting. After a fairly short trip from Da Nang, you seemingly will find yourself stepping into a UNESCO World Heritage site which feels truly as if time basically stood still, isn’t that right?

So, the Ancient Town might be where Hoi An really seems to show its personality. Apparently, picture it: just the tiny streets lined with very old merchant houses, pretty much all aglow in lantern light when evening comes around. Food-wise, anyway, Hoi An comes off great, seemingly. And seemingly, be on the lookout for local specialties like Cao Lau (pork noodle dish) and White Rose dumplings; by the way, seriously yum. Oh yeah, so seemingly grab one of the local beers over the riverside and so watch the town basically come alive as the sunsets.

Basically, spring (from February to April) might just bring some comfortable temperatures with few showers – honestly a superb time for hitting up both beaches and the mountains, for example. So, as to transport, you are going to see many options. You can take Grab, which works just fine, or use taxis to make that commute around Da Nang. Seriously, if you fancy that experience with some open air involved, then you might find it really easy, if not enjoyable to grab those motorbikes!
