You know, with loads of ways to see Curaçao, what makes zipping around on an electric scooter worth it? OK, so it definitely felt greener compared to, say, a gas-powered vehicle. Cruising along silently and enjoying the outdoors was actually amazing, a plus. Besides that, these scooters could get into spots a car simply can’t, revealing a side of Curaçao that’s super real. And, it’s almost easier to find parking. I have to say, it added a touch of adventure to checking out the south east sights. Very different from seeing it through a bus window, if that makes sense.

Right, so getting ready for the tour is, like, pretty straightforward. Obviously, they gave me a helmet, that’s, too, is almost first thing they did – safety first and all. Also, it’s arguably smart to throw on some sunglasses and sunscreen; the Curaçao sun does not play. Comfy clothes and shoes are definitely important because you’re gonna be on the scooter for a bit. Double-check if they include water, too; otherwise, you’re probably gonna want to bring your own bottle. Small backpack also does the job so you have room for your items.

Wow, ok. The tour took us past some spots that just blew me away, actually. First there’s the Curaçao Sea Aquarium. We didn’t, so, go in, yet just riding by and seeing that slice of the sea life action was very interesting. Next thing, Jan Thiel Beach, oh man. It was, actually, super tempting to just stop and chill there all day. We drove by the salt flats where you can see flamingos which are pink. I mean, seriously, Curaçao’s southeast is practically screaming to be Instagrammed, right?

So, riding an electric scooter – what’s the story? Basically, it was super easy. No need to, too it’s almost know how to drive a motorcycle or anything crazy like that. These scooters are, usually, pretty simple to operate. Throttle, brakes, and you’re good to go. You will notice that it took a little getting used to at first, keeping my balance felt slightly funny, yet after a bit I was all over it. OK, it’s important to, too it’s almost listen to your guide’s tips. Also, pay some attention to the road because sometimes, naturally, things could get bumpy. All in all, it was a relaxed ride and, honestly, really fun.

Tour Guides: More Than Just a Leader

tour guide Curacao

I gotta give a shout-out to our tour guide – he didn’t just point stuff out, if you know what I mean. He knew his stuff regarding Curaçao’s history, too it’s almost like the stories he told really brought the place to life. He pointed out things I’d, usually, just zoom past and gave us some local tips that made the whole trip way better. OK, if you get a good tour guide, that can honestly make or break the experience, and ours was very top-notch. It made a difference. He really went the extra mile, basically.

What Could Be Better, Maybe?

For real though, as awesome as the tour was, a little improvement here and there would take it to the next level. OK, some parts of the road were, too, is almost rough, arguably better suspension on the scooters could ease that up a bit. A longer stop at Jan Thiel Beach also is something I personally could vouch for. Honestly, maybe offering a few different tour lengths could hook different crowds. Look, though – I’m not complaining, just spitballing ideas to make it an even better time.
