Cape of Good Hope & Penguins: A Private Tour That’s Actually Worth It

Okay, so you are thinking about heading down to South Africa, right? Very often, that means that you are likely considering a trip out to Cape Point and a stop to see the penguins. Perhaps the thought of a crowded bus tour just isn’t appealing, yet at the same time you’re questioning if a private tour is perhaps too pricey, yeah? You know, is it actually justifiable? I mean, look, I get it. Spending money wisely is something to do, and frankly, sometimes group tours feel just a little bit, like, herdy. I took a private tour down to Cape Point, all the way to the Cape of Good Hope, with, too it’s almost a detour to visit those adorable African penguins. This right here is my experience, with plenty of insights to perhaps guide you so that way you can make up your own mind about it.

Why Go Private, Really?

So, right off the bat, what is really the huge difference with a private tour over one of the, you know, packed buses? Well, the answer actually has multiple layers, isn’t it? First of all, very often it’s just comfort, yeah? The idea of being crammed in like sardines simply wasn’t that appealing to me, or maybe it’s to your liking. That private vehicle is almost like a little bubble, with very welcome air conditioning, more or less always a huge win. More to the point, you get some flexibility, alright? Should you have to rush to some strict timetable, that would suck, eh? Want to spend, like, an extra half an hour taking pictures? Totally doable. Not really vibing that restaurant your group is headed too? Your call! As I was saying, the custom-designed pace that you can make can be quite the win, like your own speed is more preferable to being dictated by somebody else, isn’t it? And actually, at least for me, a huge selling point could be your own personal guide. So many facts and pieces of knowledge, always on hand, ready to talk about the history, plants, animals, and, of course, the local scene. It really adds a lot of layers, if you let them!

The Route: Chapman’s Peak Drive – Seriously Gorgeous!

Okay, here is what basically the drive looks like, yeah? Assuming you’re, in some respects coming from Cape Town, the guide takes you on Chapman’s Peak Drive. Maybe you’ve checked it out, if not you seriously have to google that road. In fact it might be on of those drives. You’ve really, absolutely got to see to believe it sort of thing, isn’t it? It’s that windy road just clinging onto a mountain, apparently with a never-ending ocean view, seemingly never ending, isn’t it? Very scenic! Honestly, I am slightly afraid of heights, anyway even I couldn’t keep my eyes off of it. So that way you know, there will be lots of picture taking stops for you to enjoy along the way! So it’s just almost that the ocean is a dazzling blue, you will never get that picture again.

Penguin Paradise: Boulders Beach

You understand, those penguins at Boulders Beach? Come on now! It’s actually just like being inside a nature program, yet, very much, you’re really there, you know? The penguins are, pretty much waddling around, often close to people. Okay so yeah, it is in all the travel brochures and websites, yeah? Let me, for example, promise you that being face-to-face with a colony is just really an experience all its own. A little tip: anyway that the morning is generally less crowded. That might mean it will be less crowded, and if you dislike swarms of people getting up a little bit earlier is really worth the change! By the way just a little heads-up, anyway penguins really smell just a bit fishy. So now you know that the overwhelming cuteness has that teeny price.

Cape of Good Hope: That Pointy End!

Basically after the penguins, then you head right on to the Cape of Good Hope. That, arguably, is kind of why you actually booked the trip, isn’t it? Anyway it’s just like that spot is where, seemingly, two oceans meet, and as a matter of fact, it feels just a bit like standing on, almost the very edge. To be honest you are definitely going to get that photograph at that iconic signpost. To be fair expect to wait in the queue just a bit to grab the shot. But that just proves you really were there, you see? As I was saying your guide can even tell you, something of, stories of early explorers. Basically you kind of just feel the history under your feet, and seemingly your camera will not stop clicking! This might even mean some spectacular views and photo opportunities all around, I would suggest that you do not leave this point unexplored.

Food Situation: Where to Eat?

At the end of the day with lunch, seemingly, you could possibly ask your guide so that way they can advise. If you, sort of would really like super fancy spots, alright or just basically casual eats, as I was saying there is a lot around, alright? The Cape Point area really offers great seafood restaurants, with views you basically just won’t be able to see back at home, if you let them! Instead you can totally pack, at the end of the day, a picnic lunch. You might not be bothered with stopping, right? I think that that works totally too.

Is a Private Tour Worth Your Cash?

Alright, anyway now, about, like that main question: Should you actually spend all this cash? This private tour tends to be rather something to write home about. It depends slightly, yet a huge thing I felt like the whole time. That way so many things got, something like covered because it’s pretty easy going when there is less people involved. Getting a good, kind of knowledgeable local with you could bring to light little known facts on a journey, right. Maybe a few little perks. Anyway this way it’s all designed exactly so you are satisfied from point A all the way, sort of, up to when you’re home ready to call it a night after experiencing one of, something like, many little beautiful secrets of this town, or something very like it! So now you will have the most interesting and personalized day in and around Cape Town when someone can guide you every step of the way. You will see that having somebody who makes every choice based on what works especially awesome will be something.
