Andaman Tour Review: 6 Days of Havelock & Neil Island Bliss

So, you’re dreaming of pristine beaches, clear turquoise water, and that gentle sea breeze rustling through the palm trees, too, it’s almost a cliché, yet it’s also exactly what the Andaman Islands promise. A six-day trip including Havelock and Neil Island seemed just the perfect slice of paradise, and yet after getting back, there’s plenty to talk about beyond just the beaches.

Day 1 & 2: Port Blair – First Impressions and Cellular Jail

Cellular Jail Andaman

Touching down in Port Blair, you might think the air immediately smells differently, kind of like that humid, tropical scent I always associate with island escapes. The first day was that usual, settling-in stuff. Check into the hotel, maybe grab a bite. Then the Cellular Jail. Visiting this place really does bring a heavier feel to paradise. A stark, dark mark of Indian history. Learning about the prisoners and the stories from that period really had me pausing. The evening light and sound show is that pretty cool, so consider hanging around for that. The next morning, Chidiya Tapu was really appealing – that sunset view is like an unmissable experience to check out! Overall, Port Blair had more substance than what I thought; you should prepare to take the time with it.

Day 3 & 4: Havelock – Radhanagar and Elephant Beach

Radhanagar Beach Havelock

A ferry to Havelock; pretty much every article hypes it, it did still blow my expectations. Radhanagar Beach! That’s why it is constantly among Asia’s best beaches and that pure white sand is soft. Picture perfect? It almost sounds a cliché, yet it does really look great. Spent ages chilling, just listening to the waves. That second day there, planned for Elephant Beach. A boat trip seemed ideal, the snorkeling, it’s something that I did a bit. Just colorful fish and that sea life that seems totally detached to reality. Something that you should still note, water activities at Elephant Beach depends a lot on the tide and weather, really making you think about booking in advance if there are a handful of people who might be visiting the same spot!

Day 5: Neil Island – Bharatpur and Laxmanpur Beaches

Bharatpur Beach Neil Island

From Havelock, Neil Island has more calm. Bharatpur Beach – that clear shallow water that lets even non-swimmers paddle easily and this one guy took the glass-bottom boat to see the reefs! Laxmanpur Beach; that sunset viewpoint did make this place have plenty more of that peaceful charm. Neil felt slower than Havelock and the beaches were still pretty good, and visiting it might be worth it to slow things down, which may still depend on the kind of vacation someone likes.

Day 6: Back to Port Blair and Departure

Port Blair Airport

That ferry from Neil Island to Port Blair and suddenly this marks the trip coming full circle! The morning might involve scrambling last-minute for souvenirs. It is something that you can do so that you give yourself at minimum one or two hours; anyway it really just depends on someone. Reflecting, Andaman showed different parts than just island paradise. Havelock’s that eye-catching beach, Neil’s slower vibe and Port Blair’s historic parts, they almost are more striking in a way. So this six-day tour really might have packed more than just scenic sights, so go experience this kind of thing too!
