Amanda Premier Cruise: Hanoi & Ha Long Bay Review (2D1N)

Alright, if you’re even considering a getaway to Vietnam, chances are Ha Long Bay has popped up on your radar – like your something you just have to see. So, too, it’s pretty much a world-renowned gem, known for its crazy scenic beauty with those towering limestone karsts and dreamy emerald waters. We, actually, took the Amanda Premier Cruise for a whirlwind 2-day, 1-night trip from Hanoi, and I want to share our whole experience with you, you know, warts and all. Hopefully, it’ll give you, in a way, a clearer idea of what to anticipate if you are considering it.

First Impressions and Transfers

So, the adventure starts in Hanoi. They said a bus would pick us up, literally right from our hotel. That morning, things went quite smoothly; like your ride came pretty much right on time. Getting to Ha Long Bay from Hanoi, it often takes about two to three hours, give or take. The bus, very, actually, had comfy seats, like, well, relatively comfy, and there was air conditioning. Very essential, as I was saying. Still, the drive itself? Pretty interesting. You get to see a lot of the Vietnamese countryside, too it’s almost.

The Amanda Premier Cruise Ship

Basically, the Amanda Premier Cruise Ship, you know, looks pretty, at the end of the day. I mean, naturally, it isn’t some mega-liner, yet very classy, a bit, actually. It has this kind of modern design going on, with these nice, sleek lines and, clearly, that promised luxury thing going on. First impressions? It feels pretty intimate, if you want to get really descriptive, and I’d say that maybe it caters to those who prefer that vibe of small-group, alright? Once you step onboard, the crew actually greets you with smiles. You even get this welcome drink, which always starts, basically, any vacation on the proper foot, clearly.

Cabin Comfort and Amenities

We, naturally, settled into our cabin, and, actually, I must say I was kind of impressed. Very compact, definitely, yet that space? In a way, well optimized. I mean, typically, you won’t be spending most of your time in the cabin, by the way. Anyway, yet, it had a decent-sized window with views that gave those wonderful snapshots of Ha Long Bay. Just amazing. Like your own personal screensaver constantly updating. Seriously, there was air conditioning, which, literally, is a lifesaver in that heat, like your own personal screensaver updating at all times. Basically, there was this private bathroom with all your necessary bits and bobs. At the end of the day, right, everything’s, basically, very clean. I have that thing I care about the most.

Food and Dining Experience

Like your taste buds are just set for a wild ride, right? First off, I really have to give it to them; as I was saying, presentation is key. Lunch, right, included these plates, like your something I just have to capture for Instagram, seriously. There was so much variety – of course, it had your Vietnamese cuisine, and stuff, yet western options as well, just pretty, pretty decent. Anyway, right, dinners, often, take on that fine-dining flair; well, moderately fine. Honestly, though, freshness is, in some respects, very noticeable with ingredients; you can kind of taste it. Right, the seafood, certainly? Basically, often just caught, right from the bay, they tell you, I mean, usually. Right, you are not going hungry is how it goes with you, seriously.

Activities Onboard and Ashore

Okay, like I didn’t have enough time, you know, just spacing out at those limestone formations; still, there was kayaking; actually, really good. So, you got, right, literally up close, just sort of nearly tucked under those caves and grottoes, which is a pretty different view, I am telling you. Still, they do this cave tour thing, you know, just sort of. Honestly, I tend to blank a little on those group trips; very just not for me, honestly. There was this opportunity they had, which gave you the chance of doing that squid fishing bit at nighttime – I passed on this occasion, to be perfectly honest with you, just sort of really wiped after those, right, like activities.

Staff and Service Quality

I really, at the end of the day, want to make a nod at the crew working the boat; very helpful; honestly. What I mean to tell you? I did not encounter anyone there that seemed less enthusiastic. Just really nice; honestly. Just any request that you may have, I mean, alright, usually, at the end of the day, comes across really genuine.

Potential Downsides and Considerations

So, what, actually, could people gripe over if I really dig in there. Look, Ha Long Bay is, as a matter of fact, just straight touristy now, I think; right? Basically, very just anticipate you, know, sort of more boats. Another potential snag you will have on this tour is the Internet and cellular data thing: very spotty at the end of the day. I would be, at the end of the day, planning for getting completely disconnected while out there. Also, this 2-day, 1-night? A little like whirlwind action. In a way, consider something slightly bigger. This lets that experience sink.
