Amalfi Coast Tour on Allegra21: Review & Guide
Okay, so you’re daydreaming about the Amalfi Coast, right? We all are! It is that amazing stretch of Italian shoreline that you see in movies and pictures and suddenly you wonder if all of the photos can possibly be real. It’s all cliffs, pastel buildings, and crystal-waters, so, yes it’s a special kind of pretty. Now, there are a ton of ways to experience it. You might drive those winding roads (brave you!), hop on a ferry, or even hike the trails. One of the coolest ways, really, one of the most spectacular ways to soak it all in is by boat, specifically with a full-day private tour on something like an Allegra21. I recently did this myself and figured I’d share everything about my experience so you can decide if it’s the right call for your travel plans too.
What to Expect From a Full-Day Private Tour
Let’s get this straight; a private tour of the Amalfi Coast? We can probably agree it’s not exactly a budget option, and that’s fine. What you’re really paying for here is an experience crafted just for you, or your group, is that it? Think of it, like your own floating VIP lounge. We get that driving around the Amalfi Coast puts you into overdrive. With a private boat, it means zero stress about parking and traffic. Very important! It’s the freedom to discover secret spots, hidden coves where you could take a dip away from all the crowds. These tours usually run around 7-8 hours, and it’s that long. This is truly a full day of pure bliss on the water. We have the freedom to choose when, where and how you want to explore, it all makes the price worthwhile.
Why Choose Allegra21?
Allegra21, they’re not a one-size-fits-all operation, very few operators are, right? The boats are, often, a blend of stylish and comfortable, too. They hold smaller groups, like up to 8-10 people usually, I’m fairly sure. So you’re not crammed in like sardines which, of course, is a plus. I picked them partly after doing a little searching online and checking a whole load of reviews. What stood out to me about the boat tours offered, is that it seems like the company strikes this cool mix between luxury and a really personal touch. What’s nice is that, for example, captains tend to be locals, they seem to know the coastline as they would the back of their hand. That kind of experience and expertise is sort of priceless, don’t you agree?
My Personal Experience: Setting Sail
We started in Positano, it’s that picture-perfect village that climbs up the cliffs. Seeing it from the water gave me a totally different perspective, just spectacular. As we pulled away from the harbor, there really wasn’t anything like feeling that warm breeze and seeing the coastline unfold. Our captain, was it Tonino?, was fabulous; so, very quickly he started telling stories about the places we cruised past, is that they call that “history on the go?” Now, here’s one very memorable moment; cruising into a smaller cove close to Conca dei Marini. He cut the engine, and we each took a swim in water so clear it felt like a pool. Oh and they were gracious enough to serve snacks and drinks – that Aperol Spritz tasted superb out there, I’m going to be frank. Something that seemed nice was not being rushed; there were many points during that part of the trip when we just lingered in a certain place because we liked the views so much. This wasn’t some, strictly timed, conveyor belt tour, do you understand? It was more like exploring with a friend who knew all of the fantastic secrets.
The Highlights of the Tour
What you do, so, like, you need to see on the Amalfi Coast, basically depends on you; some popular stops definitely live up to their reputation, they certainly do! So, Positano is all that and a bag of chips from the sea. Seeing those iconic colorful buildings, it appears, is gorgeous and is a great start or end point. Another popular option? The Grotta dello Smeraldo (Emerald Cave). So it can be touristy; the blue light inside it? Worth it. You know you need a picture! Next is Amalfi town; rich history, with the amazing Duomo. Take a tour. I found that Ravello had absolutely gorgeous views. It’s perched up higher, more or less above the coast, which just gives you these sweeping sights. I visited Villa Rufolo there, where you could easily just sit and stare out forever. Very easy.
Food & Drink on Board
Snacks, drinks, food; so it can really change according to the tour operator or which package you get, it changes all around, really! Allegra21 was gracious enough to serve water, fizzy drinks, along with just very delicious, small sandwiches and the region’s ever-present local fruit. Ask, and you might be able to ask the tour to plan for extra goodies to go on your adventure, and they seem only to happy to fulfill those special needs! I feel like this really can improve the trip, to be very frank.
Tips for Booking Your Amalfi Coast Boat Tour
I wish I knew, and could say how far ahead of time you’d better make a plan. These things can be pretty darn popular, I get the sense, especially during the warmer months. Very easy for you to use Google. Make comparisons and look around for deals to save those precious pennies. I was on the lookout for packages; ones with snacks, beverages and any costs bundled with them, very important! So get what you want, but more for a reasonable, final price. It’s quite a nice idea, by the way, to put that day tour somewhere safe within your travel budget; you will have enough money left so your mind is at ease to do some shopping for small gifts!
What to Bring on Your Tour
Yeah, right, so a boat, the Amalfi Coast and the big, hot sun, those go altogether. Is that really the list you are looking at?! * Sunglasses: shield your eyes from the glare. Very important. * Hat: Head protection! Protect the old noggin! * Sunscreen: Defend against sunburn! Even the ones that ‘only’ provide SPF 30 will probably save the day for you, seriously. * Beach towel: Something that isn’t microfibre; drying off becomes really quite quick. Very good. * Swimsuit: What a nice place to take a swim in that sea. No way around it! Camera, what a fabulous camera! Pictures? Yes please! Money is important because I doubt that they’ll take the plastic for on-the-spot purchases; they accept only hard cash from the automated cash machine.
Is a Private Boat Tour Worth It?
You do you; that’s important! So is the price worthwhile, you’re likely asking. But that is more for an unforgettable and personal adventure. If so, a private boat excursion might seriously be your kind of travel. When, instead, all you have to do is relax and simply go along while having the choice between gorgeousness and total independence, then spending that extra dough gets even much easier, would not you say?
