Alexandria City Tour Review: See the Highlights

Alexandria City Tour Review: See the Highlights

Thinking of taking a trip to Alexandria, Egypt? You know, it’s almost a totally different kind of place, layered with that much history and, like, so many stories from the past. Maybe you’re thinking about seeing the sights, and that’s why I wanted to share a look at the “From Alexandria Highlights of Alexandria Private City Tour.” I took it not that long ago, and wow, there’s really a lot to talk about. We are going to run down the good bits, the things that could maybe use a tweak, and why this tour could just be the thing for seeing Alexandria. So, you know, buckle up; here we go.

Setting off into Alexandria’s History

Alexandria History

The tour starts bright and super early, but it’s really needed, since Alexandria has quite a bit to show off. The folks putting this all together really know their stuff, so they get the need to get ahead of the crowds. They picked me right up from where I was staying, which was totally nice, and from the jump, the person running the tour seemed easygoing and ready with all sorts of tales about the place. We were chatting it up right away, almost like we’d known each other forever, and that, to me, makes a real difference. The whole day stretched out, like a cool open book just waiting to be looked at.

Now, when you set out into history, it’s really a great thought to know what you’re in for, right? So, Alexandria, you see, goes all the way back to Alexander the Great, and it has played a part in everything, it seems like, ever since. You’re seeing bits and pieces that the Greeks, the Romans, and heck, even the Ottomans all had their hands on. With someone who loves this kind of history guiding you? So that is just next-level stuff. On this trip, it really seemed like we’re not just going to old places, it’s like those old places were, just for a day, really going to come alive.

Visiting the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa

Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa

I would say, of every part of the tour, this bit, with the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa, has gotta be what hits home the hardest. Think about it; you are headed down into this old place dug deep in the ground that they made way back in the 2nd century AD. So there’s that slightly cool, old, sort of damp smell in the air that’s like, a mix of earth and long-ago secrets? It’s almost got that Indiana Jones vibe going. And, you know, this isn’t just any old dark pit; the ways the designs join together bits of Egyptian and Greek styles is like something you just don’t see all the time. The way those old artists and workers cut those designs makes your jaw just drop. I probably took, like, a bazillion pictures, to be honest.

The tour guide, he seemed really on top of things and laid it out just perfectly. So what he told us was, these tombs began when one family started digging for themselves, but, that, before too long, it turned into a spot for everyone. Those designs that combine Egyptian with Greek things? Yeah, that was on purpose, too. It was their way of speaking to different types of people who lived there at the time. You can walk about there and wonder about the past, since the tour group runs you through those tales and, yeah, that is, in fact, top-notch.

The Library of Alexandria: A Place of Learning

Library of Alexandria

We made a stop at the Library of Alexandria, a spot that shows just how much this area values learning and saving ideas. Sure, it’s that all-new kind of place that took the spot of the great old one, and I feel, it’s still a jaw-dropper. What’s really cool is this place wants anyone to come in, since it holds all kinds of books in heaps of tongues, also it seems they are forever putting up great works of art all about. We looked about, then, as a matter of fact, had a long look at its manuscripts spot. We all thought how much the place shouts out just how crucial it can be to gather thoughts and wisdom.

Having a person that leads tour groups with the skills we’ve come to know really steps it up there, so you’re gonna want to know they’ll put it all in terms you grasp right off. So what you find out is the Library represents something greater; just consider those old Greeks that had so much to give, after that, think back to times far into the future when all this turns to whispers on scraps? I will say, they had lots of great leaders who looked far forward as they formed the grounds to build something to save ideas. And that’s just still taking place here, too it’s almost quite alive still.

Fort Qaitbey: Looking Out Over the Sea

Fort Qaitbey

Right on the side of the water sat this old fort named Fort Qaitbey, which just looked wonderful against those waves crashing down. You get that slight salty smell and you know the sounds they only have at seaside. That’s so pretty and hard to forget, I would bet. The fort itself, as well, shows some things because, so, it has stood at its place since the 1400s. First they placed it right there atop the ruins where once, yes, they really placed the old Lighthouse of Alexandria. Okay, so you’re staring out to where one of the biggest, tallest buildings shot sky high.

We seemed just fine getting told by the guide on our tour every point on its building and, yet, some stories of how they kept enemies back in the past. That man did sound stoked just spitting all those specs. What he did say was that Qaitbey did really matter in that he strengthened up seaside fronts there. It just meant a lot that he turned Alexandria to what you think of right away, a very solid front side by the seaside. I felt the gush that history can touch off when I saw those old walls and looked to the place where ships might appear some day, somehow, in their numbers.

A Few Spots Where Improvement Could Occur

Here’s where, as I like to do in honest overviews, I drop some parts they probably could have performed better. At lunch, it took a bit too long sitting to watch as food made it to us, but you could chalk that to that zone is way up there and that makes them more busy. So it wasn’t really killer, of course, though I know time truly does make much weight if you have those timelines really structured for everything you would want. Too it’s almost smart as well to confirm, maybe, just how cozy your method for travel, since bouncing about in an auto all day tends to tire somebody pretty thoroughly.

Closing Thoughts: Is This Tour Something for You?

Okay, if you just need some great means of drinking in many famed bits out of Alexandria right as that bell goes, this might be something to jump into right now. I will tell people out there to know you receive some solid data out of some pros alongside some great moments to take pictures plus you also, on top, glean that bit extra in someone local opening to you ways that stuff proceeds about the grounds. So just look at everything I went over and weigh to find when or in fact never; what’s for certain here is this tour just might open that portal by those hidden spots hiding within Alexandria. And from that, might let some others come join who also may appreciate these gems as a whole.
