Agadir, Legzira, & Tiznit Day Trip: A Deep Dive Review
Thinking about heading out from Agadir for a day, that mixes the ocean breeze with a touch of history, like your own personalized Moroccan sampler platter? Well, the Agadir, Legzira Beach, and Tiznit day tour, with lunch, promises just that! That said, I am going to go into if it really delivers and is definitely a must-do, while you are there. It sounds awesome, it may be good, still you need to be fully informed before you take the time for it.
First Impressions: Picking Up and Setting Out
So, it all gets going super early, maybe a bit too early if you are not a morning person, yet, I can tell you about it. Getting picked up, is actually rather convenient, and starts at around 8 in the morning. The tour company will often come directly to your hotel, making the whole thing a fair bit more streamlined than if you had to go meet somewhere else. Now, the vans and buses that you could be in can certainly differ, that, honestly, adds to the whole experience, in some fashion. Like your own box of chocolates, you really don’t have a clue what you are going to get. That said, from what I have seen, the vehicles, tend to be reasonably comfy, equipped with air conditioning. It’s almost vital for the long drives in the Moroccan sun. Getting a guide that is easy to interact with, too, sets the tone for the day, still sometimes that’s a swing and a miss.
Legzira Beach: Arches and Azure Waters
Okay, Legzira Beach! Almost everyone on the tour will most probably tell you this is a huge highlight. The stunning rock arches really do create, something of a dramatic coastal scene. Legzira was once defined by two massive stone arches. Yet, one sadly collapsed in 2016, but still that remaining archway remains absolutely breathtaking. Take loads of photographs when you get there; you will probably want to remember what that looks like. That being said, I must point out it does involve a pretty steep walk down to the shoreline and of course, back up too! So, if you aren’t really good on your feet, or have, certain mobility issues, it might present a minor problem, yet that’s nothing that people haven’t overcome before!
Tiznit: History, Walls, and Silver
After soaking up the ocean views at Legzira, the tour, heads over to Tiznit. Tiznit has a pretty rich history, known as the ancient silver capital. As you show up, that, fortified city walls will greet you. In fact, this is arguably a nice look back into history, and certainly is a far cry from some resort towns, a short way down the Moroccan coast. Some of the tours will include time for shopping in Tiznit’s souks, especially if you are very much after silver trinkets. This stop really gives an eye-level view of the past.
Lunch: Moroccan Flavors
So, lunch tends to be an element that could potentially go either way, with these group tours. Several tours actually do provide lunch in a conventional restaurant; just a heads up! Expect a selection of classic Moroccan dishes. So, naturally, that means tagine and couscous. It’s usually fine, yet maybe do not expect something overly fancy; after all it’s more about the experience in total, if I were to have a stab at it. When the food is good though, like your average home cooking, then, everything tastes great.
What to Bring
Want to make the trip stress free and comfy? Then here are some thoughts to consider:
- Comfy Footwear: Arguably important for both, actually, Legzira’s slopes and Tiznit’s walkways.
- Sunscreen: The Moroccan sun has real power, pretty much all of the time.
- Head covering: A hat or scarf would actually be ideal to protect against the sun.
- Cash: Little market vendors in Tiznit, maybe won’t be taking credit cards; maybe take a card.
- Water: Keeping yourself hydrated is absolutely important.
