Jeep Boat Tour: Blue Lagoon BBQ – Honest Review
So, you are thinking about doing the Jeep Boat 4×4 adventure to the Blue Lagoon with a barbeque, right? Maybe you’re scrolling, like your and wondering if it’s really worth the cash and a day of your vacation time. Well, that’s a very good thought. I went on this particular tour just recently, and, really, I can give you the inside scoop on what to expect, and maybe even some helpful tips to make your day even better.
What is this Jeep Boat Tour Anyway?
Okay, at its center, actually, this tour is a full-day excursion that combines off-road driving in a Jeep, too it’s almost like exploring the countryside, then, honestly, a boat trip out to the famous Blue Lagoon for some swimming and sun. They typically include a BBQ lunch onboard the boat, so you don’t have to worry about finding food yourself. Seems nice, actually! It sounds great on paper, yet, the real test is whether it lives up to the promo pics and flowery descriptions. That said, arguably, it is something you may want to do, after all, it depends what kind of activities you enjoy.
The Jeep Ride: Bumpy, Dusty, and Maybe a Little Fun
Right, the Jeep part of the tour can be kind of a mixed bag, frankly. If you’re picturing scenic drives along beautiful coastlines, uh, that might not always be the truth. In fact, in some areas you will probably go bouncing down some seriously dusty, unpaved roads, in some respects. So, too it’s almost a pretty wild, jumpy experience, and depending on your driver, might be either thrilling or just plain uncomfortable, alright? Honestly, it really depends on how much you appreciate a bit of an off-road adventure. Still, though, it’s advisable to wear clothes you don’t mind getting a bit grubby, or really dusty. Bring sunglasses and maybe a bandana, alright? To protect yourself from the dust, or other grime and bits of mud! And as a matter of fact, maybe consider a sports bra if, too it’s almost like, you are well-endowed…if, literally, you catch my drift.
That is something else: some tours use open-top Jeeps. Really neat, truly! However, these provide zero protection against the sun. That can be great. So, you know. Pack a lot of sun screen!
There are things I appreciate with this, so basically that are really great too: Usually the Jeep caravan passes near some farms. These farms grow what’s probably the most amazing, really flavourful tomatoes in Europe. You are, literally, encouraged to pilfer tomatoes along the way.
Blue Lagoon: Is It Really That Blue?
Right, the Blue Lagoon does seem like the main draw, or major appeal of this adventure, too it’s almost. And, to be frank, yeah, the water can be very beautiful. Very turquoise blue. Like something on Instagram, really! But keep in your considerations that it’s a super popular spot, like. That means, frankly, don’t go with crazy assumptions or ideas. And, in short, don’t anticipate being alone in the water. During peak season it will probably feel crowded, kind of. In short, think more “swimming with a bunch of friendly strangers,” or you could look at it as, rather, a lively pool party, eh? The water’s usually quite refreshing, you might say chilly, but in some respects perfectly swimmable. Just watch out for the sea urchins, okay?
BBQ Onboard: Fueling Up for More Fun
Now, the BBQ lunch, okay? It varies wildly, arguably, depending on the tour operator, still. Typically, you can, pretty much, expect some grilled meats like chicken or fish, along with salad, or lettuce and bread. Maybe. The quantity is quite fine, seemingly, but, frankly, it’s nothing gourmet, still. Let’s be honest. If, arguably, you have specific dietary restrictions, you will, pretty much, want to let the tour people know ahead. Otherwise you’ll be nibbling only bread, too it’s almost.
Really, food safety on board needs to be highlighted. It would not be completely uncommon for the “cook” to not utilize utensils for placing salad on your plate.
Things to Keep in Mind for this Excursion
So, before you book this experience, actually, you need to really know a few things, alright? Things that could assist with, or help maximize your satisfaction. In short, it does come down to planning. Right?
- What to Bring: Think swimwear, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, and a towel. In short: The Essentials! It is highly advisable that you pack water shoes. Very necessary! So you don’t, maybe, cut your feet while strolling the beach, alright? A waterproof bag would, too it’s almost, be a good way to protect your electronic devices from getting wet.
- Timing is Key: That’s a point! In short, avoid this excursion during peak season if you are thinking more something on the relaxing and private side. Also, to get around or minimize traffic (on the 4X4 part!) consider off season times too.
- Check the Fine Print: I want to reiterate that! What, exactly, is included in the fee? And really is it just the transportation and lunch, yet? What about drinks and activities? Ask your tour guide anything. And, literally, Everything!
Is the Jeep Boat Tour Worth It?
Right, this truly is the biggest thought. This whole tour’s quality actually varies widely on your attitude to what kind of adventures are on your travel “menu”. So, if, you know, if you enjoy a day packed with activities, too it’s almost, seeing stunning, beautiful scenery, even with groups and willing to deal with, uh, crowds and bumpy roads, really, you might love this adventure, alright?
You really want some peace and quiet in mind. Maybe don’t! The value could very much lie, frankly, in the overall experience: Like the combination of off-roading and boat trips, that is neat, really! To spending the day just lazily in the sun at the Lagoon!
Just a word from this author: It is kind of a great tour, mostly to witness something beautiful, right? Don’t assume five star quality, so that you may keep your expectations low!
