Lijiang Baisha Village Market Park: An Honest Biking Tour Review

Considering seeing Lijiang’s Baisha Village Market Park? So, I thought I’d share my complete take on a recent biking tour I took. It’s almost like you’re thinking of going, right? And like your considering your choices. Now, while Lijiang attracts people with its old town and tourist hotspots, I’ve always looked to step away and experience something that’s a bit more local, and that’s really what led me Baisha.

Why Baisha Village? An Alternative to Lijiang Old Town

Baisha Village Market

Lijiang Old Town, yeah, that is that famous place. That’s alright overflowing with stores and those huge crowds, too it’s almost kind of lost its authentic vibe, is that true? Baisha Village, actually only a short distance away, offers something very different, very serene, I’d say. Baisha, being much smaller and more easygoing, seems to offer a real look into everyday life in the Naxi community. Like you have something authentic for yourself.

Choosing a biking tour really allowed me to experience the region at a relaxed tempo, and that’s important, very much so. Biking allows you that freedom, alright, to stop where you want, interact with locals, and actually soak up the scenery. Plus, getting a bit of workout in while sightseeing never hurts, actually!

Finding the Biking Tour and Getting Started

Lijiang bike tour

Finding a bike tour could be easy there in Lijiang. There are many tour operators that advertise in the old town, and there is internet searches. Before booking, check to see reviews and ask questions about the route. It is like you are checking the best places and route, right? Confirming that the tour visits both Baisha Village and Market Park is significant. I chose a half-day tour, that I feel gave me a good balance between exploration and relaxation. Be sure, actually, that the bikes that they have are well-maintained, since the roads outside Lijiang could be a bit rough around the edges.

Once my tour got moving, it was very nice. After a brief orientation, and bike fitting session, we were ready for our ride, right. Leaving Lijiang and moving to the countryside there. Already it’s pretty quiet.

The Ride to Baisha: Scenery and Stops

rural scenery Yunnan

The cycle ride from Lijiang towards Baisha, that’s fairly beautiful. And actually the trail winds that path by farmland. The Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, right, providing one of those outstanding backdrops for most of your ride. I felt I was getting nice photos already.

Our tour guide made a number of planned stops down that way. Like, for instance, at viewpoints where people get amazing landscape shots and some interesting insights in the local farming techniques. Also we stopped at a Naxi family’s home where we, like, learned some things concerning their traditional lifestyle and were invited in to drink tea with them. Experiences like these, those human interactions, that are more treasured rather than the sights.

Exploring Baisha Village

Baisha Village Naxi people

Arriving in Baisha really felt that that’s a jump backwards into time. Unlike that more polished feel around Lijiang Old Town, it really maintains a more laid-back and genuine atmosphere. The houses that they stay at were traditionally Naxi. These feature the old construction ways. The streets in some ways can only be said to be quieter and less hectic, is that how I would call them.

Our guide gave us some information relating the history down town of Baisha. Once the capital, but very early on its place went that of Lijiang. So Baisha that way is still retaining its unique cultural identity, yeah.

One important site we explored are the Baisha Murals. Found when going at the Baisha Old Town. Its nearly a bit that one that would find about it. Commissioned under that Ming Dynasty. Very amazing artworks do show different images down along some spiritual images. Some showing interactions with people. Those murals offer up valuable, those, peeks down into the cultural and those also the artwork past to that zone. It, you know, might be something you’d want to check to see.

Baisha Market Park: A Local Experience

Baisha Market Park provides one real glimpse to the lives relating to peoples whom that live there. Its usually kind of just where locals sell some make shifts along the farm way. Actually their days can make that to what someone would hope for to seek those times like that. Going at early down under, you too could, meet, like some friendly banter between some venders for youself down those areas. Its all part as some of their experience to themselves there.

During our stop off down through them market parks. I try tasting some of the regionals eats that they had. Actually those were being ready with some big smiles right along side from some faces, right under these spots from themselves, ya see.
