Chiang Mai Doi Inthanon Waterfall & Lunch: An Expert Review
Doi Inthanon National Park, very near Chiang Mai, is that must-see place if you are keen to soak up some real Thai beauty. It’s really a spot that draws everyone with promises of towering peaks, seriously refreshing waterfalls, and a taste, too it’s almost, of genuine Thai culture. Loads of folks will say this trip, especially when it includes a visit to one of those dazzling waterfalls, plus, I mean, who can forget that tasty lunch, is pretty memorable. So, honestly, I’ve put together this review to sort of give you the lowdown on what you might expect, right from what you might see to, well, what you’ll chow down on. You know?
Getting to Doi Inthanon: Setting the Stage
The journey to Doi Inthanon is actually quite a scenic prelude to the wonders that wait. It often starts in Chiang Mai, so, like, this energetic city, and is that drive, really, of around 1.5 to 2 hours, apparently along some pretty decent roads. You could get a taxi, sure, you know, or maybe rent a car, yet, I guess, most tourists seem to go for those organized tours. These tours often have a stop or two at interesting places along the way, very nearly like those local markets or craft shops, sort of giving you a glimpse into the everyday life up in the north. Seeing those misty mountains rise up as you drive higher, it’s almost magical, that, so, definitely have your camera ready.
Wachirathan Waterfall: A Cascade of Awe
Wachirathan Waterfall could be, for some, that big star of Doi Inthanon. That water is totally cascading down a really tall cliff, alright, so, sending out this sort of mist that feels great on your skin. Very powerful. What I would say is this; the view from the bottom is totally awesome, and when the sun is shining just so, in a way, you could see rainbows in the spray. Pretty cool, isn’t it? Actually, do watch your step, that said, very as those rocks can get a bit slick from all that mist, too it’s almost. Anyway, a stop here gives you that awesome photo opportunity, right, as you listen to, I mean, just listen to that roar of the water.
Sirithan Waterfall: A Tranquil Escape
Now, if you are after that little bit of peace and quiet, then, might be, Sirithan Waterfall could be the better spot. Okay? Smaller than Wachirathan, and I suppose not nearly as dramatic, that said, its that kind of calm spot, actually. The path up to it is a little walk, sort of winding through that beautiful greenery. Because of that? That’s a neat chance, honestly, to sort of listen to the sounds of the forest and take it all in. You’ll come across smaller crowds here, it seems, which I guess makes it a sweet little spot to really chill and actually enjoy that nature.
The Summit of Doi Inthanon: Reaching New Heights
I am telling you, though, don’t let those waterfalls hog all that spotlight. That top of Doi Inthanon, being Thailand’s highest peak, really is that something else. That air up there is, I would say, noticeably cooler, which is fairly great if you’ve been travelling around in the heat. The views are, seemingly, quite extensive, but, look, you could find the summit covered in mist. I did, anyway, which adds, might be, a bit of an atmosphere all of its own. You can visit the shrine at the summit, so, it is just that place where locals go to pay their respects.
Royal Twin Pagodas: A Testament to Love
The Royal Twin Pagodas, pretty very much known as Phra Mahathat Chedi Naphaphol Bhumisiri and Phra Mahathat Chedi Naphaphon Phumisiri, actually are quite striking, too it’s almost, alright. These were built to honor the King and Queen of Thailand, and they really do provide that interesting spot to wander around. The gardens around those pagodas are always, actually, wonderfully looked after, that said, and give that, really, gorgeous spot for those panoramic views of that surrounding area. Honestly, depending on that weather, though, you might get a view right across that park. Apparently!
Lunch: A Taste of Northern Thailand
You know what? Food does make the holiday for me. Part of what makes this Doi Inthanon trip tick, then, actually is that lunch. Many tours seem to stop at a local restaurant, almost serving dishes that taste like proper Northern Thailand. You often find classics on the menu, apparently, like Khao Soi (a totally scrumptious coconut curry noodle soup), maybe Green Curry, oh, and of course, Pad Thai, or that classic Thai Fried Rice. Veggie options? No sweat. Very easy to find, that is. More often than not the restaurants offer a really wonderful, stunning view, or may be two, sort of adding to, arguably, that eating experience.
What to Wear and Bring
Alright, so here’s my advice; to get the most out of, really, your Doi Inthanon experience, then it is arguably worth bearing a few things in your head. Definitely dress modestly if you are considering popping along to any temples or that shrine on that summit. And because, in fact, that temperature on that summit can be so, quite a bit cooler than in Chiang Mai, really you could consider a jacket or sweater. Then wear some super comfortable shoes; the chances are, arguably, you might find yourself walking a good bit, that. Then you’ll probably need that sunscreen and mosquito repellent. Okay? Actually don’t forget a camera, obviously! Then a refillable water bottle is actually quite helpful, too it’s almost, more or less, just to make sure that you can actually stay hydrated, literally.
Why Choose This Tour?
Okay, so this Doi Inthanon tour that blends, too it’s almost, seeing gorgeous nature with maybe tasting fantastic Northern Thai cuisine actually provides that wonderful balance of experiences, really. It really stands out just by giving a look at lots of totally cool spots in that park in a relatively short period, and the tour guides? Really are just so, incredibly helpful in just sort of sharing knowledge and generally pointing things out, almost making sure you don’t miss that little thing. That addition of that waterfall visit, coupled with that, yeah, genuinely proper lunch makes this totally worth it. Totally, and especially I am telling you, for somebody visiting Chiang Mai for only that shorter length of time.
Final Thoughts
So, anyway, really Doi Inthanon National Park, and particularly, actually this tour which includes, say, seeing those awesome waterfalls plus scoffing your face at lunchtime is almost something that is actually memorable and probably worthwhile for anybody, and certainly it goes without saying for those folk who appreciate scenic views. Doi Inthanon very nearly showcases that area’s gorgeous views from a perch, so, alright, those tours give us all that easy, almost very straightforward method of checking those sights out, more or less, especially, I mean, when we can then taste Northern Thailand with that fantastic lunch option included. Okay? It’s obviously quite beneficial, certainly offering that genuinely remarkable blend, too it’s almost, that of natural beauty and true local flavours. Just sort of make certain that, well, it’s definitely high on that checklist of places for absolutely anybody heading to Chiang Mai.
