Great Lakes Helicopter Tour: Your 1-Hour Flight Detailed Review

So, are you thinking about seeing the Great Lakes from way up high? Like, really up high? We went on one of those one-hour helicopter tours, and it’s almost got us feeling things we weren’t quite ready for. This here’s all about that, that particular tour we tried out. It is an honest look at what you might expect, very what we experienced, and perhaps a bit about whether it’s actually something you should spend your money on, you know?

The Whole Booking Thing

First things first, that booking process, that whole experience is certainly crucial, yet it’s sometimes quite the afterthought, isn’t it? The booking side of our Great Lakes adventure, anyway, was alright, pretty straightforward. Their website, or where we booked, seemed pretty current. Like, it wasn’t super difficult to find that particular “One Hour Tour” we were after. Still, you know how some sites give you the feeling they have loads of hidden costs just waiting? Luckily, that’s just a little like what happened, though. Very all the price info was clear. Also, like, the scheduling side was okay, so it’s almost easy to pick that particular day and time that worked. We also got that confirmation quickly. So that was okay.

You get those pre-flight emails, that sort of standard stuff. You know, with those directions to the airfield and things. Anyway, it mentioned weight restrictions too, and that is that it’s a good idea to check those. Actually, it seems there’s a bunch of helicopter companies operating around the Great Lakes region, and I’m guessing things might, possibly, be just a bit varied, in some respects. From those booking platforms, the ease of use, to all those specific policies. Read that small print; it’s typically really crucial, yet it feels so boring to read through, doesn’t it?

Arrival and Pre-Flight Vibes

Arriving at that airfield, anyway, felt pretty cool, it could be that, you know? Not a massive airport situation. It’s more like that kind of thing where it’s obviously functional. Also, we all met up at that reception area, that bit was, I guess, tidy. So, as you check in, they do all those standard safety briefings. Honestly, it’s really useful to listen up at this bit, so you probably should pay good attention. Like, it seems really standard stuff. Like, how to buckle up safely, what not to touch inside the helicopter itself. However, it feels that important. Especially if this is all that first helicopter rodeo.

I feel you get that bit where you’re hanging around just a bit. As the helicopter’s readied. Still, looking out across that airfield. Seeing other helicopters taking off and landing is great too, as you have something to focus on, in a way. That pilot, very before that flight, they come and introduce themselves, just a little like a pro thing. Making you feel confident, maybe in what’s coming up. Also, it’s nice they fill you in on what to expect along that route. So, very clear and helpful.

Taking to the Skies Above the Great Lakes

Oh my days, so when you actually lift off in the end, that bit really does smack you hard in the face. Like, taking off vertically? So it feels quite unreal when that happens. Also, it feels even cooler, that the higher we went up. When that landscape below is that bit bigger, it could be. When you see it stretching right out beneath you. Then you start seeing parts of that Great Lakes coastline. Anyway, just laid out ahead of you.

I am going to put my cards on the table here. Being in a helicopter. I thought it might be bumpier, you know? Still, this ride was, very steady and really smooth, generally. Partly, because we were fortunate, as it seems there was super light winds, and I guess the pilot knew all about his stuff too. Also, we began seeing how those shores are pretty beautiful. So it seems that way. When viewed from above, typically. All that coastline’s pretty neat, actually.

You’ll see a combination of things on the route. That we followed anyway. Some pretty city views, yet of course that wild shorelines that hug a Great Lake. But that hour flashes by really fast, obviously. Looking back, it feels that the total time up in that air, felt so brief. However, that feeling of flying so free, while looking right down on places, that would linger, rather.

Views and Sights

When you’re up in that air, that bit all hinges, arguably, on how cool the things you are viewing seem, maybe? Along that Great Lakes, you will fly over all those major landmarks. Also, seeing all those from a new point of view. Looking down from above like that, typically makes it better.

The mix we were shown, was certainly cityscapes, along that lakefront, along with those parklands and just shorelines. So, as you fly, very listening to that pilot is worth it. As they tell you all that interesting stuff, those details as you pass over points of real note. It would depend on that route, that particular flight takes, usually. In this case, there were parts covering certain harbors and lighthouses. Anyway, these stood out so clear, when seen from our new high vantage.

Now you may be worried you are missing those crucial details. Well don’t be, I tell you why. As typically the pilots, as a matter of fact, are that bit switched on to the photography needs for tourists, if that’s you. That angle thing for picture taking. And even maneuvering to get that best possible snap. This bit just goes towards upping that joy we felt.

The Helicopter Itself

Helicopters feel more or less pretty impressive machines close up, you know? However, I do confess, I don’t understand about all the tech stuff under that hood, as a matter of fact. Still, anyway, that helicopter we had, I can say, appeared very well looked after. Now, how those seats felt inside? Anyway, they were very, comfortable enough, right. So, as you sit buckled in there, that harness bit. However, you do get quite that view right out from that big window.

The thing, with any flight actually, is it can feel cramped, even when it’s reasonably short, just a little? So you should try and bear this point in thoughts. On those longer helicopter trips especially. So, too those headsets everyone needs. They’re that bit functional, so you hear all those pilot comments, but you shouldn’t assume too much luxury, generally. Just that simple function to chat and hear while aboard. That’s all you get!

I need to throw this into the pot. Now, helicopter noise levels, now they can be pretty high, seriously. And those headsets actually, play that very crucial part. As the background gets suppressed that bit. As I was saying, doing a heap here, towards making that whole experience really way more that bit nice.

Pilot Expertise

Your helicopter pilot seems key, that bit should go without too much question. More or less for feeling totally at ease. More or less because that pilot must keep people safe, while showing you great bits from above. From all our experience anyway. That pilot was certainly very competent, as a matter of fact.

That feeling they totally understood their job. I guess it put your mind totally at peace, very knowing, just that much about that tour area. Their communication skill thing, typically helps really big too. Anyway, their telling of the bits as we flew? Then, knowing about all those interesting details, just like they do.

Like you, or more like I do. We probably all gauge that pilot’s competence and knowledge levels, as a matter of fact. What really put that mark in that sand for us. Also, all that way that particular pilot could chat easily, too. Yet was also really professional. The real bonus from that, I’d say. It’s that point, where a journey feels quite relaxed and so that much special.

Worth the Cost?

Those money factors, with flights anyway, typically cause talk. Just because things can be expensive. Anyway, you weigh all the memories up that way, maybe? We got all that one-hour trip offered, up against the actual spend. Right, so, that initial spend does feel high right off the bat, that way. But look closer at it.

Then you need weighting in those quite unique perspectives you only gain that way. That pilot input, I found very cool too, honestly. If you look at splurging on one epic memory. A helicopter ride over those lakes, well I guess it gives pretty good return on investment overall. If cash allows.

We felt that, as a thing overall anyway. Looking back and weighing against those regular trips. The trip became more that worthy use of funds really. Also, if seeing landmarks that really stay inside minds counts? Also, all that convenience in just one brief window of time, might be worth a splash.

Any Downsides?

Anyway, there were a few bits which may cause caution when lining it all up that way. A hugegie might well become just what you budget to splurge total trip cost wise.

The main thing really is? One trip disappears so quick in doing anyway. Very the money vanished so quickly? I suggest those peeps viewing many aspects together very much need balancing really here. Do plan a strategy really before even going to view that skyline. Also, when cash’s tighter it makes all the trip cost aspects even weightier seriously. It gets more in depth just planning.

I am really sure all felt it great in total. Some little quirks surfaced and came to note still just in doing? All of it got weighed here. Hopefully others see too where this thing scores at all still.

Tips for Maximizing Your Tour

Anyway, thinking about the way to get the best deal? Doing that bit of planning makes common sense. We now had tips here from going the tour so others do awesome journeys likewise? They probably might give more to all the whole vibe totally doing still even anyway now very?

Selecting all seat parts early totally works here a little still seriously very and obviously? This might get clear looks outside while there then obviously in every aspect fully even a touch right?. Wear parts so these have some feel fine but even practical even when all flight based. Obviously I guess?

Taking things aboard. Then obviously it works getting cool pictures in total. Very plan. Get it done? When camera and kit all came obviously. That moment did show up that shot fully.
