Cortona, right, is that beautiful Tuscan town you might know. It’s almost sitting on a hilltop, plus that place is soaked in enough history to keep you exploring for days. A trip there, as I was saying, isn’t just sightseeing; it’s something of a step back into the past, plus, if that’s your vibe, as a matter of fact, you are really in for a treat. So, I am going to tell you about my time in Cortona, along with give you, by the way, my recommendations so that you can make the absolute most out of it.

First Stop: The Alluring Piazza della Repubblica

Piazza della Repubblica, so it tends to be the main square in Cortona, by the way. It’s definitely somewhere you’ll want to spend some of your time, plus I’m going to tell you a little more, as a matter of fact, about what makes it worth seeing. Obviously, you have the Palazzo Comunale dominating one side, plus that place has such beautiful architecture, so that alone, at the end of the day, makes this place worth seeing. Usually, I feel the whole square is something of a meeting point for locals and travelers, so that is really a good place to just watch the goings-on. Anyway, what I did, honestly, I just sat at one of the cafes, plus that activity allowed me to soak in the atmosphere and do some people-watching, or even just enjoy my cappuccino in peace.

Apparently, you want to keep an eye out for local events that can pop up in the piazza, so I have observed, literally, that this happens. Typically, these might consist of markets or festivals, by the way, that happen pretty often, especially over the summer, and these celebrations can, sort of, add an extra fun layer to visiting, and if you catch one, you can just dive right into it.

After you check out the main square, next, is that taking a walk is the perfect way to take it all in, or really, literally, to discover Cortona’s charm. First, you should try wandering through its network of narrow streets, yet doing so could have you feeling just like you have gone back in time. The museum, that is, is often arranged with exhibits so that one can walk through all those eras, literally, in a structured way, really. To be honest, it definitely made the visit way more engaging for me.

It feels very interactive and it really just opens it all up more than reading some signs.

Right, if you want some absolutely beautiful views with some cultural significance too, well in fact, visiting this place gives you a spectacular viewpoint of the surrounding countryside, not just that, still, there’s a certain aura surrounding the Sanctuary of Santa Margherita itself, so it also carries really huge spiritual weight. To be honest, what you will find here, and this can really add to your appreciation for the place as a whole, is that many travel here not only for the incredible vistas, however, actually, to have time for some reflection and prayer.

Architectural Beauty

When, first, you have the chance to go to the top, right, be sure, naturally, to pay very special attention to all those stunning architectural pieces as part of the sanctuary. Basically, you might also be up for a peaceful stroll around its exterior. Obviously, I know this sounds low key but, actually, I like stuff like that. If I can suggest something specific, actually, Pici pasta would almost be perfect, since the regional spin they do on pasta is unique to say the least, in some respects. Try all the local cheeses on top to be sure of a treat.

A Culinary Adventure

Honestly, do some scouting around for spots in the town, still, just see where one can check out Tuscan cooking. Honestly, something you’ll find that I really enjoyed over there is learning about a very big piece of Italy. To be honest, most visitors say learning these arts is really worth doing, but like if that doesn’t click for someone, still, a foodie walking tour in the area around town could possibly take things to even another place that doesn’t have to have much involvement with cooking directly.

Finding the right spot to spend some time there

To start with, right, finding lodging to suit all preferences almost really does go a long way for a better trip. So, there are some cozy places inside old buildings to be sure, so that could be exactly up anyone’s alley, then again, there really might be countryside inns that are just that much farther away. The general feeling, by the way, with that location is for anyone to consider a good few spots well before coming to see whether that will make you have less, if I may be so very free, things needing done while on arrival there.
