I am going to tell you about a really well known way a person can experience Peru’s treasures a four day escape by train which will hit Lima, Cusco, too Machu Picchu. Is that cool or what? I took this exact four-day tour to, like, see what it’s all about, and here’s my down to earth review.

4-Day Lima, Cusco & Machu Picchu Tour Review: Train Excursion

First Stop: Lima a Whirlwind Introduction

Lima, Peru is sometimes seen as a gateway instead of a place to really spend some time, yet, it totally shouldn’t be skipped, and the tour starts right here! Is that okay? So, almost immediately, after landing, I found myself face to face with the chaotic energy that Lima seems to throw out into the universe, too the crazy traffic and so much life oozing from every street corner. Actually, anyway, a guide showed me all the highlights a person would want to see. We took a relaxing walk around the historic center, which, just so you know, is a UNESCO site with balconied buildings. In fact, for example, the architecture there is quite the feast for one’s eyes.

Lima Historic Center

We made a stop at the San Francisco Monastery. It contains catacombs! So, really a person could learn about a unique part of the town, the underground graveyard! Alright? Then, basically, we had a tasty lunch that offered up some super local flavors at a restaurant in Miraflores that has ocean views and delicious food. We also, even though it sounds strange, took a pleasant walk on the “Malecon,” too which is an area on top of the cliffs along the coast. Frankly, anyway, this quick Lima encounter was pretty cool! In fact, as I was saying, the old combined with the new is very attractive.

Cusco’s Embrace High Altitude History

Next on the tour schedule, Cusco! Now, remember that Cusco is at a really high altitude, so a person may want to drink plenty of coca tea to deal with the thinner air, that, basically, could happen to just about anyone visiting. Anyway, I located my tour guide in the airport. From there we took a quick ride to my lodging for the evening. We checked out the Plaza de Armas. Really the historic center of Cusco will make anyone think about the history. I got to gaze at Cusco Cathedral! Which has Baroque designs from the period when people were building the place, basically, anyway, this area is a photographer’s paradise.

Plaza de Armas Cusco

Following seeing that, in the meantime, the tour also had an in depth visit to Qorikancha also, too which translates to “the Temple of Gold,” and it was once one of the most significant holy locations inside the Inca empire. The stone work that I experienced at this temple definitely impressed me. And even today the stonework impresses modern engineers and visitors! The day wrapped up in the San Blas region. People recognize it for its artsy feel. Is that amazing? With its charming workshops, that, basically, create stunning things it is a spot a person doesn’t want to skip! Alright? After spending that entire day walking around town I got back to my hotel so that I could get to sleep! You may want to relax that first day and allow yourself some extra time to get used to being at such high altitude.

The Train Ride a Scenic Route to Wonder

Day three meant that it was time to take the train to Aguas Calientes! Aguas Calientes lies near Machu Picchu itself. That, honestly, ended up being one of the things I appreciated on this trip because you can just be on the train. After the early start, now, the landscapes grew richer! Is that not what one might expect? As the train cut through the Urubamba River canyon it became even more unbelievable! The views from this ride are incredible because one sees valleys and looming mountains. Anyway, people consider the train ride to be more than just a travel means it is part of one’s whole experience.

Train to Machu Picchu

When arriving, the tour ensured that I had no issues in Aguas Calientes. The train station employees helped move my bags. Then, by the way, they brought me to the doorway of my lodging! It was such a relief! I enjoyed getting to look at this tiny city before calling it an early night. It will prepare anyone to see Machu Picchu without distractions. The anticipation had reached high levels for when it was time to explore it during sunrise.

Machu Picchu The Lost City Unveiled

You wake up so you can get in the line that snakes from the entry of Machu Picchu. Now, one will not truly understand the feeling a person has while passing through these old Inca gates. As I am saying, the early light made Machu Picchu even more fascinating as one gets closer! Finally, alright? A friendly, expert guide then led my tiny group along all the major websites inside Machu Picchu. As I was saying, they went deep when sharing the site’s mysteries along with past history.

Machu Picchu Sunrise

The highlights? Why it had the Temple of the Sun. It is thought it was once used for special observances, along with that location the Intihuatana stone is something that needs experiencing yourself too. So, really, after spending approximately three hours soaking in just about everything Machu Picchu can throw at us, it became necessary that I come back down the hill. So, too bad that happened because, that, basically, felt very very difficult. Back at Aguas Calientes a buffet meal had been planned for everyone in town who took the excursion! Actually, honestly, once lunch ended the trip went to Cusco in the evening by railway again. Once I got back at night I rested in the hotel room with amazing thoughts swirling through my thoughts.
